Evidence of a flip-flop phenomenon in acamprosate pharmacokinetics: an in vivo study in rats.

The pharmacokinetics of acamprosate were examined in the rat after oral and intravenous administration in order to detect the possible presence of a flip-flop phenomenon. Rats received 9.3 or 73.3 mg/kg of the drug as an intravenous bolus. The same doses were orally administered via gastric intubation. Plasma samples were taken from the jugular vein for determination of acamprosate concentration by liquid scintillation counting. The drug content was also quantified in urine and faeces. The acamprosate bioavailability was close to 20%, the amount recovered in the faeces being around 80% of the administered dose. Four lichen species new to Spain

Se presentan cuatro nuevas citas de líquenes de España, concretamente Aspicilia ruceniuro, Lecanora stenotropa, Vezdaea leprosa y Xanthoparmelia plitii. Las especies probablemente no son raras pero habían sido obviadas, bien por ser inconspicuas bien por ser similares morfológicamente a otras especies. Four species of Lichens are reported as new to Spain, namely Aspicilia moenium, Lecanora stenotropa, Vezdaea leprosa aud Xanthoparmelia plitii. The species are probably not rare, but overlooked, since they are either inconspicuous or morphologically similar to other species. Eva.Barreno@uv.es

Treatment with acamprosate is a valid tool to complement psychotherapy as it does not cause addiction, abuse or withdrawal of its suspension and does not interfere with other medications that patients often alcoholics must take. To evaluate the effectiveness, our study evaluated the effects of Acamprosate compared to γ-hydroxybutyrate in clinical-physiological and social health in a way indicator of a possible therapeutic success in terms of abstinence from alcohol and social reintegration.
