Hölder regularity for stochastic processes with bounded and measurable increments

We obtain an asymptotic Hölder estimate for expectations of a quite general class of discrete stochastic processes. Such expectations can also be described as solutions to a dynamic programming principle or as solutions to discretized PDEs. The result, which is also generalized to functions satisfying Pucci-type inequalities for discrete extremal operators, is a counterpart to the Krylov-Safonov regularity result in PDEs. However, the discrete step size $\varepsilon$ has some crucial effects compared to the PDE setting. The proof combines analytic and probabilistic arguments.

Stokastinen reunasäännöllisyys ja häiritty köydenvetopeli

Tämän tutkielman tarkoituksena on tutkia Dirichlet'n ongelmaa todennäköisyysteorian ja peliteorian näkökulmasta. Osoittautuu, että käytössä olevan alueen reuna vaikuttaa siihen, onko olemassa Dirichlet'n ongelman ratkaisevaa funktiota, joka saavuttaa oikeat reuna-arvot jatkuvasti. Tutkielmassa määritellään joukon reunasäännöllisyys jatkuva-aikaisen satunnaisliikkeen avulla. Käyttökelpoinen ja riittävä ehto reunapisteen säännöllisyydelle on Poincarén kartioehto. Tässä työssä näytetään myös Wienerin kriteerio, joka on riittävä ja välttämätön ehto reunapisteen säännöllisyydelle. Akateemisen varhaiskasvatuksen muotoutuminen

Tässä tutkimuksessa rajaudutaan tarkastelemaan varhaiskasvatusta tieteenalan perspektiivistä. Tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan akateemisen kentän muotoutumista ja varhaiskasvatuksen sisällöllistä määrittymistä. Aineistona ovat Suomen varhaiskasvatuksen professoreiden virantäyttöprosesseissa tuotetut dokumentit. Tutkimuksemme painottuu erityisesti akateemisen kentän keskeisten toimijoiden - asiantuntijoiden ja viranhakijoiden - identifioimiseen. Työmme kohdentuu lähihistoriaan ja sitä voidaan luonnehtia akateemisen varhaiskasvatuksen kentän historiaa ja muotoutumista koskevaksi perustutkimukseksi. The framework of embodied cognition has challenged the modular view of a language-cognition divide by suggesting that meaning-retrieval critically involves the sensory-motor system. Despite extensive research into the neural mechanisms underlying language-motor coupling, it remains unclear how the motor system might be differentially engaged by different levels of linguistic abstraction and language proficiency. Guiding and assessing development of L2 writing process : the role of peer collaboration

This study, informed by Vygotskian notion of mediation and reporting on a partnership between a researcher (the first author) and a teacher (the second author), aims at exploring how peers’ comments can inform teacher assessment and guidance of learners’ L2 (second/foreign language) writing. The participants were 19 L2 English learners in an upper secondary school in Finland. We largely focus on the notes that one pair of learners made on each other’s essays and how they responded to peer assistance.
