A Strongly Luminescent Chromium(III) Complex Acid

The synthesis, structure, reactivity, and photophysical properties of a novel acidic, luminescent chromium(III) complex [Cr(H2 tpda)2 ]3+ (23+ ) bearing the tridentate H2 tpda (2,6-bis(2-pyridylamino)pyridine) ligand are presented. Excitation of 23+ at 442 nm results in strong, long-lived NIR luminescence at 782 nm in water and in acetonitrile. X-ray diffraction analysis and IR spectroscopy reveal hydrogen-bonding interactions of the counter ions to the NH groups of 23+ in the solid state. Deprotonation of the NH groups of 23+ by using a non-nucleophilic Schwesinger base in CH3 CN switches off the luminescence. Re-protonation by using HClO4 restores the emission. Conformational Switching of Multi-Responsive Ferrocenyl-Phenol Conjugates

Multifunctional conformational switches based on the ferrocenyl-salicylic acid amide motif with increasing additional complexity at the Fc moiety (R = COOMe, CONHEt, CONHFc; H-2–H-4; Fc = ferrocenyl) have been prepared and their preferred secondary structures in solution have been elucidated by NMR and IR spectroscopy in combination with conformational searches based on DFT calculations. Their distinct conformational responses to deprotonation ([2]––[4]–) and oxidation ([H-2]+·–[H-4]+·) have been revealed by IR, EPR, and UV/Vis spectroscopy as well as by DFT calculations. Protonation of Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor Lapatinib: A Theoretical and Experimental Study

The protonation process of tyrosine kinase inhibitor lapatinib was studied by means of 1HNMR and UV/Vis spectroscopy joint with the theoretical calculations at DFT and semi-empirical levels. DFT/M06-2X geometries were used to describe and compare the different cationic forms of lapatinib, while ZINDO/S-CI method performed on those geometries allowed for the interpretation of experimental UV/Vis spectra of lapatinib at various pH. We found that at low pH two different dicationic forms (N2N1 and N1N3) of lapatinib were present in ethanol and DMSO-d6 solutions. Chemical shift reagents in the study of polycyclic alcohols IX—1H NMR spectra of myrtenol and some other primary alcohols

Structure proof of (—)-myrtenol, 3-cyclopentenyl-1-methanol and 5-norbornene-2-endo-methanol has been obtained from their proton magnetic resonance spectra in carbon tetrachloride containing different added amounts of tris(dipivaloylmethanato)europium. For each alcohol, a 1:1 complex structure with Eu(dpm)3 could be computed, in which the calculated pseudocontact shift effects on all skeleton protons of the ring system were consistent with the observed shift effect values. A considerable contact contribution of opposite sign to that of the pseudocontact part of the effect could be estimated for the methylene protons of the CH2OH group.

Cis- and trans molybdenum oxo complexes of a prochiral tetradentate aminophenolate ligand : Synthesis, characterization and oxotransfer activity

Abstract Reaction of [MoO2Cl2(dmso)2] with the tetradentate O2N2 donor ligand papy [H2papy = N-(2-hydroxybenzyl)-N-(2-picolyl)glycine] leads to formation of the dioxomolybdenum(VI) complex [MoO2(papy)] (1) as a mixture of cis and trans isomers. Recrystallization from methanol furnishes solid cis-1, whereas the use of a dichloromethane-hexane mixture allows for the isolation of the trans-1 isomer. Both isomers have been structurally characterized by X-ray crystallography and the energy difference between the isomeric pair has been investigated by electronic structure calculations. Protonation of a Spherical Macrotricyclic Tetramine: Water Inclusion, Allosteric Effect, and Cooperativity

The spherical macrotricyclic cryptand tetramine "C24" (1) displays remarkable protonation behaviour. It undergoes protonation in four successive steps for which pKa values of 11.17±0.05, 10.28±0.04, 6.00±0.06 and 3.08±0.08 have been determined at 298 K. The unusually close values for the first two protonations provide evidence for the encapsulation of a water molecule serving as effector for the second protonation, which is consistent with earlier observations that the exchange of protons bound in the diprotonated species with solvent protons is unusually slow and that 17 O NMR spectra show the presence of an oxygen centre in the same species quite distinct from that of solvent water. Subphthalocyanine basicity: reversible protonation at the azomethine bridge

International audience; Subphthalocyanine (SubPc) could be reversibly protonated at the azomethine bridge. This phenomenon was examined by addressing the pKa of the acid (TFA, MSA, TMSA) and the SubPc electron-withdrawing properties of the peripheral isoindolic substituents (F12 vs. H12 and NO2), which tunes the basic character of the azomethine moiety. The protonation of up to three azomethines was suggested and monitored spectrophotometrically with the appearance of new absorption bands at 610, 630 nm and 660 nm, together with marked colour changes from purple to blue to green.
