The temporal-parietal junction (TPJ) is a brain area implicated in social cognition, attention, integrating body-related information and self-processing. We investigated involvement of both the left and the right TPJ in a complex social cognitive task that required attributing intentions to other people. Fourteen healthy subjects participated in experiments that involved simulating interactions with other people in everyday conflicting situations. The task was performed following application of inhibitory trains of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) to the right and the left TPJ and to a control occipital brain site. Memory function after resolution of post traumatic amnesia

Primary objectives: The aims of this pilot study were (1) to examine neuropsychological, particularly memory functions immediately after post-traumatic amnesia (PTA) resolution according to the Galveston Orientation and Amnesia Test (GOAT), and (2) to provide a preliminary exploration of pattern of performance on GOAT items across PTA duration. Methods and procedures: Thirty-seven head injured patients were administered the Recognition Memory Tests on the day that PTA resolved. The impact of deep dysgraphia on graphemic output buffer disorders

This article describes an investigation into the residual writing skills of a severely dysgraphic patient (DA). We found that they were powerfully influenced by a number of lexical variables (lexicality, frequency, imageability, length and geminates). His error pattern was characterized by semantic, lexical, substitution, deletion errors and fragment responses that preserved the first letter. Thus, DA's written spelling was characterized by both deep dysgraphic and graphemic output buffer effects. It is proposed that this pattern of performance represents a new "putative functional syndrome."
Use of noninvasive cerebral stimulation techniques in aphasia: An updating

Aphasia is a receptive and expressive communication disorder following to a cerebral accident (stroke, head injury, tumor). ical speech and language therapy was not able to significantly contribute to the aphasia recovery. In the last decade two nonin- vasive cerebral techniques, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), have been used for the treatment of aphasic patients. In this paper I will report some of the main results in this field. The aim is to highlight both coherent and contrasting outcomes emerging from the use of these techniques and to understand their therapeutic potential in the treatment of aphasia.
