The aim of this study was to investigate how regular singing lessons and deliberate practice impact future teachers’ voice quality and their expression in speech and singing. Previous research about teachers’ speaking voice has shown that kindergarten teachers and classroom teachers are at high risk of showing symptoms or developing disorders, which weaken their effectiveness of expression. Sharing photographs and photo-chatting are common practices in doing family at a distance. This study looks at the processes of the production and circulation of photographs within the family network, analysing participants’ narratives about their image-based communication in WhatsApp. The data was collected as an ethnographic enquiry into the digitally mediated (transnational) family communication of five Polish women and their children living in Finland. Tutkimuksen tehtävänä on tarkastella Yhdysvaltain ulkoministeri James F. Byrnesin Stuttgartissa syyskuussa 1946 pitämää puhetta illokutionäärisen uudelleentulkinnan keinoin. Tavoitteena ei ole niinkään puhetekstin tuottamien empiiristen seurausten (perlokuutioiden), vaan niiden aiheuttamien tekojen sisällön (illokuutioiden) analyysi. Puheaktiteorian ajatus puhumalla tekemisestä johtaa pohtimaan, mitä ulkoministeri todella teki sanoessaan mitä sanoi. Metodologisella valinnalla halutaan korostaa erityisesti Quentin Skinnerin esiin nostamaa puhujan intentionaalisuutta, mikä puheaktiteorian valossa johtaa kysymyksiin puheen oikeasta kontekstista.
