Contributions to Improve the Sustainability in Services Based Organizations

The sustainability of the services based organization consist on its ability to monitor the external environment about opportunities, changes, trends and risks, as well as the ability to learn, change and innovate. To reach the sustainability threshold, the organization must focus on both results and processes. A viable solution is to adopt a quality strategy that allows a perceptible perception of its products to its customers. This research purpose is to identify the extent of which organizations are sustainable and seek to meet the interests of all the involved stakeholders, as well as to help the organizations to identify areas where they can improve their performance.

Effects of Biochar Addition on Rill Flow Resistance

The development of rills on a hillslope whose soil is amended by biochar remains a topic to be developed. A theoretical rill flow resistance equation, obtained by the integration of a power velocity distribution, was assessed using available measurements at plot scale with a biochar added soil. The biochar was incorporated and mixed with the arable soil using a biochar content BC of 6 and 12 kg m−2. The developed analysis demonstrated that an accurate estimate of the velocity profile parameter Гv can be obtained by the proposed power equation using an exponent e of the Reynolds number which decreases for increasing BC values. Sources of groundwater contaminants in inhabited areas, located in complex geo-tectonic contexts, are often deeply interlocked, thus, making the discrimination between anthropic and natural origins difficult. Testing a Proactive Model of Successful Aging Among Older Adults in Costa Rica and Spain.

The purpose of this study is to examine successful aging among Spanish-speaking older adults in Costa Rica and in Spain using the proactive framework proposed by Kahana et al. (2014). More specifically, we hypothesized that older adults’ life satisfaction would be positively associated with the frequency and perceived level of social support, spirituality/having purpose in life, and the use of proactive physical, cognitive, and social self-care behaviors. Our results confirmed these hypotheses, not only for the overall group of participants, but also separately for older adults in Costa Rica and in Spain.
