Extending the Power Range of a Solar Inverter

Solar inverters feature a minimum and maximum limit of the maximum power point voltage. Overcoming these limits leads to a disconnection of the power equipment, thus wasting the solar energy. In this paper, a solution to extend the power range of a solar inverter is presented. The proposed solution extends he minimum maximum power point limit of a commercial solar inverter by means of a battery energy storage system, including a DC/DC power converter. The battery energy storage system is connected in series to the photovoltaic module. Individual Differences Facing the COVID-19 Pandemic: The Role of Age, Gender, Personality, and Positive Psychology

Research on individual differences in facing the COVID-19 pandemic seems to be crucial in order to design diverse and highly effective intervention strategies. This study uses a sample of 302 North American participants who were recruited through the crowdsourcing platform ProA; different profiles were established, profiling variables of interest in facing the COVID-19 outbreak. Socio-demographic and psychological (personality traits, gratitude, life purpose, and religiosity) variables were explored. These results are of interest if we want to deepen the study of individual differences at both a theoretical and applied level.

Niniejszy artykuł prezentuje wybrane strategie nazewnicze, które wpływają na powstawanie terminów fachowych w branży kolejnictwa. Jednym z jego celów jest ukazanie, że forma tych pojęć jest w głównej mierze uzależniona od takich aspektów jak ekonomia językowa i ‘tendencja do uwidaczniania’. Krótki rys historyczny i szczególne podkreślenie znaczenia kognitywnej funkcji języków fachowych tworzą ramy niniejszej analizy, z jednej strony podkreślając wagę omawianego zagadnienia, z drugiej zaś wskazując na wielowymiarowy charakter uzyskanych wyników.

Abstract This article is dedicated to present the most common word-formation strategies in German railway specialist terminology. The presentation of the most productive morphological nomination strategies in the analysed area is preceded by a short historical outline of the railway industry in Germany. The aim of this paper was to gain an understanding of the views of a group of physical education teacher educators on the purpose(s) of school physical education and whether, how and why these views have changed over time. Semi-structured individual interviews were carried out with thirteen physical education teacher educators; a fourteenth participant responded to interview questions in writing. Participants were based in seven countries: Belgium, Finland, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, Switzerland and the USA. Problem Transformation Methods with Distance-Based Learning for Multi-Target Regression

Multi-target regression is a special subset of supervised machine learning problems. Problem transformation methods are used in the field to improve the performance of basic methods. The purpose of this article is to test the use of recently popularized distance-based methods, the minimal learning machine (MLM) and the extreme minimal learning machine (EMLM), in problem transformation. The main advantage of the full data variants of these methods is the lack of any meta-parameter. The experimental results for the MLM and EMLM show promising potential, emphasizing the utility of the problem transformation especially with the EMLM. peerReviewed
