Cross cultural marketing teachers' profile
2008
PurposeMarketing has attracted increased interested over the past 15 years in both academic and commercial circles and there has been a market rise in the number of students. At the university level, the characteristics of the teacher play an essential role in student/teacher interaction and influence academic results and future professional success. This influence is revealed in three main areas: the choice of subjects, teaching media and teaching methods. The purpose of this paper is to identify the most commonly found marketing teacher profile and the differences among marketing teachers with respect to the marketing subjects that they impart and the media and methods that they use.Desig…
Identifying important package features of milk desserts using free listing and word association
2010
Identifying the package and label features that are most relevant for consumer might provide useful information for designing a food package that closely matches consumer needs and expectations. In the present work two groups of 100 milk dessert consumers were asked to elicit package and label features of milk desserts using word association and free listing. Both methodologies were useful, efficient and quick methods to determine package and label features most likely to influence consumer perception of milk desserts. Although some differences were found between them, results related to the design of milk dessert packages were similar and suggested that brand, package shape, colour, and th…
Moving forward the Italian nursing education into the post-pandemic era: findings from a national qualitative research study
2023
Background: During the CoronaVIrus-19 (COVID-19) pandemic, nursing education has been dramatically transformed and shaped according to the restrictions imposed by national rules. Restoring educational activities as delivered in the pre-pandemic era without making a critical evaluation of the transformations implemented, may sacrifice the extraordinary learning opportunity that this event has offered. The aim of this study was to identify a set of recommendations that can guide the Italian nursing education to move forward in the post-pandemic era. Methods: A qualitative descriptive design was undertaken in 2022–2023 and reported here according to the COnsolidated criteria for REporting Qual…
Participants' perceptions of an intervention implemented in an Action Research Nursing Documentation Project.
2017
Aims and objectives The aim of this study is to describe healthcare professionals’ experiences and perceptions of an intervention implemented in an action research project conducted to improve nursing documentation practices in four municipalities in Norway. Background Documentation of individualized patient care is a continuing concern in healthcare services and could impacts the quality and safety of healthcare. Use of electronic systems has made some aspects of documentation more comprehensive, but creation of an individualized care plan remains a pressing issue. Design A qualitative descriptive design was used. Methods An action research project was conducted between 2010–2012 to improv…
“It’s hard to keep a distance when you’re with someone you really care about” — a qualitative study of adolescents’ pandemic-related health literacy …
2021
AbstractPurposeThe aim of this study was to explore how adolescents accessed, understood, appraised, and applied information on pandemic preventive measures, how their lives were impacted by long-lasting regulations and how they described their quality of life.MethodsA qualitative design with focus group interviews was used to elaborate on the quantitative survey results obtained and analyzed in a previous survey study from the first phase of the Covid-19 pandemic. Five focus groups with seventeen adolescents were conducted digitally during the second pandemic phase in November and December 2020. The interview data were analyzed with directed content analysis.ResultsThe adolescents reported…
The quality of life when a partner has substance use problems: a scoping review
2018
Objective To examine the existing body of knowledge on quality of life (QoL) in partners of people with substance use problems (PP-SUPs) to provide a synthesized summary of the evidence and identify gaps in our knowledge on the QoL of PP-SUPs. Methods A systematic scoping review was performed. Publications indexed in EMBASE, Medline, PsycINFO, CINAHL, SocINDEX, and CENTRAL were searched for original, empirical, peer-reviewed, full-length research papers that examined QoL in PP-SUPs. Research papers identified through a manual search of key references and known references by co-authors were also included. A total of 3070 abstracts were screened, 41 full-text papers examined, and nine were fo…
Investigating the quality of mental models deployed by undergraduate engineering students in creating explanations: The case of thermally activated p…
2013
This paper describes a method aimed at pointing out the quality of the mental models undergraduate engineering students deploy when asked to create explanations for phenomena or processes and/or use a given model in the same context. Student responses to a specially designed written questionnaire are quantitatively analyzed using researcher-generated categories of reasoning, based on the physics education research literature on student understanding of the relevant physics content. The use of statistical implicative analysis tools allows us to successfully identify clusters of students with respect to the similarity to the reasoning categories, defined as ``practical or everyday,'' ``descri…
Aza–oxa macrocyclic ligands functionalised with naphthylmethyl fluorescent groups
2000
Abstract Compounds L 1 and L 2 were obtained by reaction of 2-(bromomethyl)naphthalene with 1,4,10-trioxa-7,13-diazacyclopentadecane and 1,4,7-trioxa-10-azacyclododecane, respectively. These receptors contain aza–oxa crowns attached covalently to fluorescent groups. The protonation and coordination behaviour of L 1 and L 2 against metal ions has been studied in dioxane:water (70:30 v/v, 25°C, 0.1 M potassium nitrate) using potentiometric methods. All metal ions studied form complexes with L 1 and L 2 with the logarithm of the formation constants L+M 2+ =[M(L)] 2+ in the sequence Cd 2+ ≅Pb 2+ , Zn 2+ 2+ for L 1 and Zn 2+ 2+ 2+ 2+ 2+ for L 2 . The fluorescent behaviour of L 1 and L 2 was stud…
Mapping recent information behavior research: an analysis of co-authorship and cocitation networks
2015
There has been an increase in research published on information behavior in recent years, and this has been accompanied by an increase in its diversity and interaction with other fields, particularly information retrieval (HR). The aims of this study are to determine which researchers have contributed to producing the current body of knowledge on this subject, and to describe its intellectual basis. A bibliometric and network analysis was applied to authorship and co-authorship as well as citation and co-citation. According to these analyses, there is a small number of authors who can be considered to be the most productive and who publish regularly, and a large number of transient ones. Ot…
