Infrared bandshapes of intramolecularly H-bonded systems, 2,4,6-tribromophenol

Abstract A detailed quantitative analysis of the IR bandshape of the ν S (OH) vibration of 2,4,6-tribromophenol in a series of solvents of varying polarity is presented. A distinct dependence of band parameters on solvent polarity has been found. Various contributions to the bandshape are discussed.
The level of context dependence of engagement markers in Peninsular Spanish and US business websites

This paper examines the impact of Spaniards’ and North-Americans’ level of context dependence (Hall, 1976) on the engagement markers (Hyland & Tse, 2004) used on the presentation page of 100 business websites from the toy sector (50 from Spain and 50 from the US). Following an observational and a quantitative analysis, the findings reveal remarkable statistical differences in the interactional discourse of this digital genre, which may be a valuable source of information for export companies to introduce their products abroad by means of their business websites. In this paper we discuss a study on the approaches to modeling of students of the 4-year elementary school teacher program at the University of Palermo, Italy. The answers to a specially designed questionnaire are analyzed on the basis of an a priori analysis made using a general scheme of reference on the epistemology of mathematics and physics. Outlying location of logistics activities : the example of the Burgundy in France

International audience; This paper contributes to the understanding of spatial location of logistics activities in an outlying region. A quantitative analysis in Burgundy (French region) underlines the important polarization of warehousing developed in a limited area during 1980–1990s intensified during 2000s. The companies that locate their warehouses in Burgundy have different strategies that could explain this outlying location. For example, the low cost of land, favorable terms of tax system and the presence of a labour pool with an important unemployed rate incentive could incentive some companies to locate their warehouses in an outlying region like the Burgundy.

The retina is one of the vertebrate tissues with the highest content in polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA). A large proportion of the retinal glycerophospholipids, especially those found in photoreceptor membranes, are dipolyunsaturated molecular species. Rayleigh-instability-driven dewetting of thin Au and Ag films on indium-tin-oxide surface under nanosecond laser irradiations

Investigations have been carried out on laser-beam-induced nanoparticle (NP) formation in thin (5 nm) Au and Ag films on indium-tin-oxide substrate. After the irradiation the films were observed to break-up into NPs through a dewetting mechanism. This mechanism was investigated as a Rayleigh-instability- driven process. In fact, for each used laser fluence, the resulting Au and Ag NPs' mean size and surface-to-surface mean distance were quantified and correlated between them in the framework of the Rayleigh-instability theory showing an excellent agreement. © The Institution of Engineering and Technology 2013.
