We study the necessary conditions for obtaining infrared finite solutions from the Schwinger-Dyson equation governing the dynamics of the gluon propagator. The equation in question is set up in the Feynman gauge of the background field method, thus capturing a number of desirable features. Most notably, and in contradistinction to the standard formulation, the gluon self-energy is transverse order-by-order in the dressed loop expansion, and separately for gluonic and ghost contributions. Entangling two uncoupled flux qubits via their sequential interaction with a quantized electromagnetic field

A theoretical scheme for the generation of maximally entangled states of two superconducting flux qubits via their sequential interaction with a monochromatic quantum field is presented. The coupling of the qubits with the quantized field can be tuned on and off resonance by modulating the effective Josephson energy of each qubit via an externally applied magnetic flux. The system operates in such a way as to transfer the entanglement from a bipartite field-qubit subsystem to the two qubits. This scheme is attractive in view of the implementation of practical quantum processing systems.

The constituent quark model has been very useful for the description of many physical properties of baryons, achieving in most cases a fair agreement with the experimental data 1 The model is based on a non relativistic QCD-inspired dynamics including a harmonic oscillator (h.o.) confinement potential and a spin dependent (hyperfine) interaction. We present an update on our determination of the electromagnetic form factors and axial charge of the nucleon from theNf= 2 + 1 CLS ensembles with increased statistics and an additional finer lattice spacing. We also investigate the impact ofO(a)-improvement of the currents.
Analytical and numerical analysis of the atom–field dynamics in non-stationary cavity QED

We study analytically and numerically the dynamics of the quantum non-stationary system composed of a two-level atom interacting with a single mode cavity field whose frequency is rapidly modulated in time (with a small amplitude). We identify modulation laws resulting in qualitatively different dynamical regimes and we present analytical solutions in some simple cases. In particular, we analyse minutely the influence of the field–atom coupling on the photon generation from vacuum via the dynamical Casimir effect.
Self-dressing and radiation reaction in classical electrodynamics

A canonical approach to self-dressing in classical electrodynamics is presented. A slowly moving, rigid charge distribution is assumed to be completely deprived of the transverse electric E⊥ at an initial time t1' and the development of this component of the field is studied for t > t1' by solving the coupled charge-field Hamilton equations of motion. The theory is specialized to charge distributions of spherical symmetry, and in particular the point-charge, the spherical shell of charge and the spherical volume of charge are considered. Universal correction for the Becke-Johnson exchange potential

The Becke-Johnson exchange potential [A. D. Becke and E. R. Johnson, J. Chem. Phys. 124, 221101 (2006)] has been successfully used in electronic structure calculations within density-functional theory. However, in its original form, the potential may dramatically fail in systems with non-Coulombic external potentials, or in the presence of external magnetic or electric fields. Here, we provide a system-independent correction to the Becke-Johnson approximation by (i) enforcing its gauge-invariance and (ii) making it exact for any single-electron system.
