Heavy quark symmetry at large recoil
1992
Abstract We analyze the large recoil behaviour of heavy meson transition form factors using the Brodsky-Lepage hard scattering formalism. At the leading order of the heavy mass scale the large recoil form factors exhibit a new type of heavy quark symmetry. We discuss next-to-leading mass effects and present explicit 1/MQ expressions for the form factors in the peaking approximation.
Nucleon axial charge in lattice QCD with controlled errors
2012
We report on our calculation of the nucleon axial charge ${g}_{\mathrm{A}}$ in QCD with two flavors of dynamical quarks. A detailed investigation of systematic errors is performed, with a particular focus on contributions from excited states to three-point correlation functions. The use of summed operator insertions allows for a much better control over such contamination. After performing a chiral extrapolation to the physical pion mass, we find ${g}_{\mathrm{A}}=1.223\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.063(\mathrm{stat}{)}_{\ensuremath{-}0.060}^{+0.035}(\mathrm{syst})$, in good agreement with the experimental value.
Measurement of theB¯0→D*+ℓ−ν¯ℓdecay rate and|Vcb|
2005
We present a measurement of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element $|V_{cb}|$ based on a sample of about 53,700 \mbox{$\Bzb \rightarrow D^{*+} \ell^- \bar{\nu}_{\ell}$} decays observed by the \babar\ detector. We obtain the branching fraction averaged over $\ell = e,\mu$, ${\cal B}(\Bzb \rightarrow D^{*+} \ell^- \bar{\nu}_{\ell}) = (4.90 \pm 0.07\mathrm{(stat.)}^{+0.36}_{-0.35}\mathrm{(syst.)})\%$. We measure the differential decay rate as a function of $w$, the relativistic boost $\gamma$ of the $D^{*+}$ in the ${\Bzb}$ rest frame. By extrapolating $d\Gamma/dw$ to the kinematic limit $w \rightarrow 1$, we extract the product of $|V_{cb}|$ and the axial form factor ${\cal A}_1(w=1)$. …
Extraction of form Factors from a Four-Dimensional Angular Analysis of B¯→D*ℓ−ν¯ℓ
2019
An angular analysis of the decay B[over ¯]→D^{*}l^{-}ν[over ¯]_{l}, l∈{e,μ}, is reported using the full e^{+}e^{-} collision data set collected by the BABAR experiment at the ϒ(4S) resonance. One B meson from the ϒ(4S)→BB[over ¯] decay is fully reconstructed in a hadronic decay mode, which constrains the kinematics and provides a determination of the neutrino momentum vector. The kinematics of the semileptonic decay is described by the dilepton mass squared, q^{2}, and three angles. The first unbinned fit to the full four-dimensional decay rate in the standard model is performed in the so-called Boyd-Grinstein-Lebed approach, which employs a generic q^{2} parametrization of the underlying f…
Incomplete GIM cancellation in $$K_L \to \bar \mu \mu $$ decay
1987
Weak contributions to the decay $$K_L \to \bar \mu \mu $$ are evaluated over the whole energy spectrum and it is found that terms which survive the GIM cancellation because of the size of the top quark mass are comparable in size to the ones previously kept. Corresponding bounds on the K-M mixing matrix elements are given.
Nonlocal quantum-field correlations and detection processes in quantum-field theory
2009
Quantum detection processes in quantum field theory (QFT) must play a key role in the description of quantum-field correlations, such as the appearance of entanglement, and of causal effects. We consider the detection in the case of a simple QFT model with a suitable interaction to exact treatment, consisting of a quantum scalar field coupled linearly to a classical scalar source. We then evaluate the response function to the field quanta of two-level pointlike quantum model detectors, and analyze the effects of the approximation adopted in standard detection theory. We show that the use of the RWA, which characterizes the Glauber detection model, leads in the detector response to nonlocal …

Parity violation correlations in light muonic atoms
1989
The 2 S -1 S transition in light muonic atoms is very sensitive to parity violation correlations induced via neutral currents. Observables depending on these transitions such as the photon polarization and the angular correlation between the emitted radiation and the atom polarization are a clear signal of weak neutral currents in atoms. We find the relation between the lepton and quark couplings and these observables emphasizing the effect of the nuclear spin. The results expected in muonic, atoms μ- 4 He and μ- 3 He are given.
