There are several approaches to the construction of large scale high resolution display walls depending on the required use case. Some require support of 3D acceleration APIs like OpenGL, some require stereoscopic projection. Others simply require a surface with a very high display resolution. Towards a real-time 3D shape reconstruction using a structured light system

This paper deals with 3D shape reconstruction using a structured light system (SLS) which projects a matrix of laser rays onto the scene to be analyzed. The intrinsic problem of such a system is the correspondence problem solving, which in this particular case amounts to matching up the imaged spots and the originating laser rays. In this paper, we propose a method for automatically obtaining configurations of the system (COS) (i.e. the relative positions of the camera, laser projector, and measuring scene) that permit to achieve a direct and unambiguous correspondence. The Reconstruction of Polyominoes from Approximately Orthogonal Projections

The reconstruction of discrete two-dimensional pictures from their projection is one of the central problems in the areas of medical diagnostics, computer-aided tomography, pattern recognition, image processing, and data compression. In this note, we determine the computational complexity of the problem of reconstruction of polyominoes from their approximately orthogonal projections. We will prove that it is NP-complete if we reconstruct polyominoes, horizontal convex polyominoes and vertical convex polyominoes. Moreover we will give the polynomial algorithm for the reconstruction of hv-convex polyominoes that has time complexity O(m3n3).

Electron-ion physics with the LHeC

The Large Hadron Electron Collider (LHeC) project is the proposal to use the existing LHC proton/ion beams and construct a new electron beam line to perform high-energy electron-proton/ion collisions. In this talk, we consider some of the physics topics that could be studied in the electron-ion mode. In particular, we estimate how much the current nuclear parton distribution fits could be improved with the deeply inelastic scattering measurements at the LHeC by including pseudodata into a global analysis. In addition, we discuss briefly other topics that would help to better understand some aspects of heavy-ion collisions, namely small-$x$ physics and hadron production with a nuclear target.

Since the data acquired by a PTZ camera change while adjusting the pan, tilt and zoom parameters, the results of tracking algorithms are difficult to reproduce; such diffi- culty limits the development and the comparison of tracking algorithms with PTZ cameras. The recently introduced 360- degree cameras acquire spherical views of the environment, generally stored as equirectangular images. Each pixel of an equirectangular image corresponds to a point on the spherical surface.
