Bridging between the metal community and the church: Entextualization of the Bible in Christian metal discourse

Abstract For many metal music groups, the music and sounds play a more important role than language and the lyrics do. In the Christian metal (CM) genre, however, the verbal dimension has a significant status. Drawing on the concept of entextualization, the process of producing texts through extraction and relocation, this paper describes how CM groups craft their discourse (song lyrics plus textual contents on their websites) by drawing on pre-existing biblical texts while connecting them with the resources provided by the metal music culture. Abstract Background To best of our knowledge, this is the first quantitative ethnobotanical study with the aim of documenting the local knowledge and practices of using plants for curing diseases in the Cava de’ Tirreni area, Salerno Province, Campania Region, Italy. The present ethnobotanical field study, carried out during 2016–2017, documents the local uses of 119 plant species for medicinal, food and domestic purposes. Entre 1976 y 1979, cientos de presos políticos en la cárcel de Córdoba fueron sometidos a un régimen de completo aislamiento e inactividad. Se prohibieron estrictamente las cartas, visitas familiares, diarios, revistas, actividades manuales, gimnasia y deportes con el objetivo de destruirlos física y psicológicamente. Para aliviar el tedio los presos elaboraron clandestinamente artesanías, dibujos y bordados con herramientas prohibidas como huesos, clavos, hilos de toalla y tela de jean. How can design be socially engaged and politically efficient, as proposed by discourses labeled as critical design? This article introduces a conceptualization and historiography of politically charged design discourse based on philosopher Jacques Rancière’s work on the intersections of politics, aesthetics, and critical artistic practices. By focusing especially on Rancière’s reading of the genealogy of design from Ruskin to constructivism and the Bauhaus, the article aims to show that there is an important connection between design and politics present in Rancière’s thought. Abstract We previously reported that an inhibition of antigen-specific Interferon-γ release and cytotoxicity occurs after a continuous infusion of an HY immunodominant peptide although this treatment is not able to cause a significant delay of male skin grafts rejection. In vivo administration of high doses of an HY peptide, through mini-osmotic pumps, in naive female mice was used to study the effects on the male skin grafts rejection. A continuous infusion of 1 mg of an HY peptide induces a significant delay of male skin graft rejection.
