Revealing community structures by ensemble clustering using group diffusion

We propose an ensemble clustering approach using group diffusion to reveal community structures in data. We represent data points as a directed graph and assume each data point belong to single cluster membership instead of multiple memberships. The method is based on the concept of ensemble group diffusion with a parameter to represent diffusion depth in clustering. The ability to modulate the diffusion-depth parameter by varying it within a certain interval allows for more accurate construction of clusters. Tutkimuksen tehtävänä on selvittää, miten Paperiliitto on toiminut suomalaisen yhteiskunnan rakennemuutoksen vuosina 1985-2009. 1980-luvulla tehtiin poliittisia päätöksiä, jotka avasivat kotimaisia markkinoita ulkomaiselle kilpailulle ja omistukselle. Suomi otti ensiaskeleita kohti globalisaatiota. Metsäteollisuudessa se johti perinteisten vientiyhdistysten hajoamiseen ja toimialan kansainvälistymiseen. Samalla paperiteollisuuden kotimaiset työpaikat ovat vähentyneet lähes puoleen 1970-luvulta tähän päivään mennessä. A dual process model to predict adolescents’ screen time and physical activity

OBJECTIVE: Many adolescents report a lack of physical activity (PA) and excess screen time (ST). Psychological theories aiming to understand these behaviours typically focus on predictors of only one behaviour. Yet, behaviour enactment is often a choice between options. This study sought to examine predictors of PA and ST in a single model. Variables were drawn from dual process models, which portray behaviour as the outcome of deliberative and automatic processes. Poverty and Tax Exemptions in Mid-Nineteenth Century Finland

The topic of this article is the nature and social character of Finnish rural poverty during the early stages of industrialization. Specifically, I analyze households exempted from two separate taxes in order to locate and study the rural poor. Contrary to several previous considerations deeming taxation sources unreliable in poverty studies, it is shown that under controlled settings tax exemption information does display promising features. These include a high exemption percentage of households without adult male members, small average household size of the tax exempted and a clear concentration of the exemptions on the lower rural social classes.
