Modeling Ordinal Item Responses via Binary GLMMs and Alternative Link Functions: An Application to Measurement of a Perceived Service Quality

2010

Evaluation of a service on the basis of consumer opinion is a widespread practice in many fields. The assessment of perceived quality [7] of a service is generally carried out through administration of a questionnaire, composed of several items with responses posed on an ordinal scale, whereby each item represents an important feature of the evaluated service [3, 7]. In this context, the aim is to evaluate something similar to the external effectiveness, that is the part of efficacy related to the satisfaction expressed by the service users for the provided service. A particular and important example of service users is represented by students’ responses measuring the perceived quality of s…

Predictive value of the Merrill-Palmer-R Scale applied during the first year of live

2016

Estimating person parameters via item response model and simple sum score in small samples with few polytomous items: A simulation study

2018

Background The Item Response Theory (IRT) is becoming increasingly popular for item analysis. Theoretical considerations and simulation studies suggest that parameter estimates will become precise only by utilizing many items in large samples. Method A simulation study focusing on a single scale was performed on data with (a) n = 40, 60, 80, 120, 200, 300, 500, and 900 cases utilizing (b) 4, 8, 16, or 32 items. The items were (c) symmetrically distributed vs. skew (skewness 0, 1, and 2). Item loadings were (d) homogeneous vs. heterogeneous. Item loadings were (e) low vs. high. Half of the items had (f) a correlated error or not. The number of answering categories (g) was four vs. five. A to…

GLAM ORGANIZATIONS’ DIGITAL MATURITY INDICATOR: A STATISTICAL APPROACH FOR CAMPANIA MUSEUMS

2019

Digital Maturity is a complex phenomenon, involving vertical as well as horizontal processes throughout firms. Therefore, the use of multidimensional tools represents the most appropriate approach in measuring companies’ digital transformation status (Chanias and Hess, 2016). In recent years, Digital Maturity Models (DMMs)were developed in order to get a current measure of an organization’s as-is digital capability (Deloitte, 2018). However, DMMs’ effectiveness relies purely on raw data without taking into account items’ different difficulties. Moreover, though the vast majority of digital maturity models are mainly focused on manufacturing based organizations, an understanding of the chall…

Distractor Efficiency in an Item Pool for a Statistics Classroom Exam: Assessing Its Relation With Item Cognitive Level Classified According to Bloom…

2018

Multiple-choice items are one of the most commonly used tools for evaluating students’ knowledge and skills. A key aspect of this type of assessment is the presence of functioning distractors, i.e., incorrect alternatives intended to be plausible for students with lower achievement. To our knowledge, no work has investigated the relationship between distractor performance and the complexity of the cognitive task required to give the correct answer. The aim of this study was to investigate this relation, employing the first three levels of Bloom’s taxonomy (Knowledge, Comprehension, and Application). Specifically, it was hypothesized that items classified into a higher level of Bloom’s class…

The development of a short measure of physical function for knee OA KOOS-Physical Function Shortform (KOOS-PS) – an OARSI/OMERACT initiative

2008

Udgivelsesdato: maj OBJECTIVE: To develop a short measure of physical function for knee osteoarthritis (OA) using multi-national data from individuals with varying degrees of severity of knee OA. METHODS: Rasch analysis, based on the partial credit model, was conducted on Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score and Western Ontario McMaster Universities' Osteoarthritis Index data from individuals with knee OA, ranging from community to pre-total knee replacement samples from five countries. Fit of the data to the Rasch model was evaluated by overall model fit and item-level fit statistics (chi(2), size of residual, F-test). Invariance across age, gender and country was evaluated. Unidim…

Psychometric properties of the Assessment Tool for Perceived Agency (ATPA-22) - utility for the rehabilitation of young adults not in education, empl…

2020

Background: Promoting and supporting agency have been at the heart of the debate multidisciplinary. To promote self-awareness of young people’s agency and identify persons in need of support the Assessment Tool for Perceived Agency (ATPA-22) was developed. Aim: This study aims to evaluate the psychometric properties of the ATPA-22. Participants were young adults not in education, employment or training (NEETs) and students in higher education (HEI). Materials and methods: The main data analysis was implemented by Many Faceted Rasch (MFR) analysis. Results: The ATPA-22 items defined a unidimensional construct with reasonable internal consistency and separation ability. The ATPA-22 was capabl…

Italian University student evaluation of teaching: does it changes over time?

2010

This paper concerns the measurement of the Student Evaluation of Teaching (SET) by undergraduates. For almost 15 years Italian Universities have been monitoring that aspect, performing on students’ opinions about teaching, e.g. on teacher punctuality, clearness and willingness, and on suitability of the facility, logistics, and on course scheduling and managing. Each University carries out a survey with own procedures and through a questionnaire consisting of two set of items: a set of items equal for all Italian Universities, and a set of items built by each University. The survey basic aim is to gather information on teaching skill, educational goals, coordination among teachings, and ade…
