The effect of intramuscularly administered immunomodulator, adenylate deaminase (E.C. 3.5.4.6), from Penicillium lanoso-viride on the clinical score of acute experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), a T cell-mediated autoimmune disease, was examined by inoculation of guinea pigs with rabbit brain and spinal cord homogenate (encephalitogen) and complete Freund's adjuvant. Adenylate deaminase (ADA) was effective in delaying the onset of clinical disease. ADA inhibited the severity of EAE. There was a significant decrease in clinical signs. Aim: To evaluate the changes in renal endpoints in type 2 diabetes patients treated with dapagliflozin versus other glucose-lowering medications in routine clinical practice. Materials and Methods: DARWIN-T2D was a retrospective study conducted at 46 outpatient diabetes clinics in Italy. An automated software collected data on 17 285 patients who received dapagliflozin, glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists, dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors, or gliclazide, 6751 of whom had a follow-up visit. Les resultats montrent que le pouvoir agglutinant et lytique des anticorps IgM est respectivement 37 et 100 fois superieur a celui des deux classes d'anticorps IgG. Par contre, en ce qui concerne le phenomene d'Arthus, les anticorps IgM sont moins actifs que les anticorps IgG, si les rapports sont exprimes en poids. Si l'on calcule les rapports par nombre de molecules, les anticorps IgM sont aussi, dans ce cas, plus actifs que les IgG.

The role Hsp60 might play in various inflammatory and autoimmune diseases is under investigation, but little information exists pertaining to Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (HT). With the aim to fill this gap, in the present work, we directed our attention to Hsp60 participation in HT pathogenesis. We found Hsp60 levels increased in the blood of HT patients compared to controls. The chaperonin was immunolocalized in thyroid tissue specimens from patients with HT, both in thyrocytes and oncocytes (Hurthle cells) with higher levels compared to controls (goiter). Purpose A simple needling procedure is the standard method for restoring the function of an encapsulated bleb after trabeculectomy. However, postoperative hypotony represents a possible hazard. This study describes a new surgical approach for treating encapsulated blebs with reduced risk of early postoperative hypotony: bleb needling combined with transconjunctival sutures tightening the scleral flap directly. Our laboratory has recently developed the monoclonal antibody 4F7 which recognizes a molecule on dendritic cells in the dermis of mice that is upregulated after application of contact allergens in vivo. Furthermore, this antibody detects an antigen on dendritic cells in spleen, lymph nodes and colon. In order to study the influence of contact allergens on the surface expression of the 4F7 molecules on dendritic cells, FACScan analysis of splenic dendritic cells was carried out after in vitro application of contact allergens. Aims An algorithm that alerts implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) patients, in case of abnormal lead impedance (Patient Alert™, Medtronic), may help to recognize lead dysfunction. We aimed to determine the utility of Patient Alert for ICD lead-failure detection in a prospective study. Methods and results Three hundred and sixty ICD patients were followed for 22±14 months. Patient Alert was active for pacing impedance 2000–3000 Ω, and high-voltage conductor impedance 200 Ω. Ten alert events and a total of 29 severe system complications occurred.
