Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the cytotoxicity of the plant extract ankaferd blood stopper (ABS) in vitro. Study Design: ABS was eluted with fresh Dulbecco's Modified Eagle's Medium (DMEM) without serum for 72 h, at 37°C. The cells treated with various dilutions of ABS were seeded into 96-well microplate at 10 4 /well in triplicates. Cells without treatment served as a control group. The number of viable cells after 48 h incubation was determined by a modified 3-(4, 5-dimethyl-thiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyl-tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. The aim of this thesis is to compare personal blogs and theatre art. The study is conducted as theoretical discourse and focuses on comparison of personal blogs with a subgenre of theatre art, performance art. Using actual selected examples from theatre art as well as from personal blogs, the study aims to outline the similarities, which personal blogs share with theatre performance. The theoretical framework of the thesis suggests that personal blogs with their nature of the observed subject, the blogger, and the observer, the reader, produce one of the basic elements of theatre art, theatricality. Interaktīvā proza un tās lasītājs-spēlētājs ir samērā jauna tehnokultūras parādība, tāpēc līdz šim maz pētīta. Bakalaura darbā analizēta sešpadsmit lasītāju-spēlētāju identificēšanās ar interaktīvās prozas Viņa Majestātes kuģis “Straujais” autoru vai varoni ar mērķi noteikt sakarību starp lasītāju-spēlētāju identificēšanās tipu un viņu dzimumu, vecumu un interesēm saistībā ar datorspēlēm un literatūru. Lielākā daļa lasītāju-spēlētāju biežāk ir identificējušies ar interaktīvās prozas varoni, savukārt viena vecākās paaudzes lasītāja ar interesi par literatūru galvenokārt ir identificējusies ar interaktīvās prozas autoru.

Tässä tutkimuksessa on tarkasteltu varhaisnuorten tunteiden tunnistamista suoriutumistilanteissa. Subjektiivisesti ja objektiivisesti mitattujen tunteiden vastaavuuksia tarkasteltiin ottaen huomioon tehtävien vaikeustaso ja esittämisjärjestys, oppilaan kognitiivinen kykytaso, ylivilkkauden pulmat sekä tunteiden huippuhetket ja aallonpohjat. The aim of this pilot study was to explore the predictive accuracy of computer-based assessment tasks (embedded within the GraphoLearn digital learning game platform) in identifying slow and normal readers. The results were compared to those obtained from the traditional paper-and-pencil tasks currently used to assess school readiness in Finland. The data were derived from a cohort of preschool-age children (mean age 6.7 years, N = 57) from a town in central Finland. A year later, at the end of first grade, participants were categorized as either slow (n = 11) or normal readers (n = 46) based on their reading scores. Literacy Skills and Online Research and Comprehension : Struggling Readers Face Difficulties

The present study evaluated the extent to which literacy skills (reading fluency, written spelling, and reading comprehension), together with nonverbal reasoning, prior knowledge, and gender, are related to students’ online research and comprehension (ORC) performance. The ORC skills of 426 sixth graders were measured using a Finnish adaptation of the Online Research and Comprehension Assessment. Results of a structural equation model showed that these ORC skills were divided into six highly correlated factors, and that they formed a common factor in ORC.
