The Case Study in Family Business : An Analysis of Current Research Practices and Recommendations

In this study, we identified and analyzed 75 articles in the family business (FB) literature between 2000 and 2014 as to the case study design they adopted. We found that the positivistic case study approach is the FB disciplinary convention. The two alternative approaches of critical realism and interpretivism are used to a significantly lesser extent. We anticipate that in the future the positivistic approach will continue to be used widely. The other two approaches can be employed to a higher extent since their use is likely to contribute to a scientific pluralism in FB case study research.

The aim of the paper is to use international relations theories to explain the views of Polish elites in the field of foreign policy. The concept of political rationale in foreign policy, introduced by Fred Chernoff, is utilized to achieve this goal. The structure of the text is threefold. This article deals with the unnaturally functioning and frame-breaking dreams and the unnatural minds they are connected to in the novels Viivamaalari (2013) by Anne Leinonen and Muurahaispuu (2012) by J. Pekka Mäkelä. The dreams in the novels are discussed as examples of the poetics and thematics of Reaalifantasia, a young Finnish group of authors who in their writings combine fantasy elements with features of other genres. These minds and dreams as well as the ideologically charged themes they foreground are analyzed using the concepts and viewpoints of unnatural narratology. peerReviewed

The argument purported here is that even though the idea of international anarchy is often seen as very central for the academic discipline of international relations, the concept is in fact not found from the forerunners or classics of the discipline. Kandidaatintutkielma tarkastelee suomalaisen nykytaiteilijan, Olli Joen (s.1943), maalaustuotannossa esiintyvää realistista ja irrealistista maisemakuvastoa aikavälillä 1984-2012. Tutkielma selvittää Olli Joen maisematuotannon eri aikakausien tyypillisimpiä piirteitä, sekä taiteilijan intentioita ja kokemusta ympäristöstä, maisemasta ja representaatiosta. Joen subjektiivinen kokemus maisemasta realistisen ja irrealistisen kuvaston analysoinnissa nousee tutkielmassa keskeisimmäksi tarkastelun välineeksi.
