Conformal measures for multidimensional piecewise invertible maps

2001

Given a piecewise invertible map T:X\to X and a weight g:X\rightarrow\ ]0,\infty[ , a conformal measure \nu is a probability measure on X such that, for all measurable A\subset X with T:A\to TA invertible, \nu(TA)= \lambda \int_{A}\frac{1}{g}\ d\nu with a constant \lambda>0 . Such a measure is an essential tool for the study of equilibrium states. Assuming that the topological pressure of the boundary is small, that \log g has bounded distortion and an irreducibility condition, we build such a conformal measure.

Ceria-based electrolytes prepared by solution combustion synthesis: The role of fuel on the materials properties

2016

Ce0.8Sm0.2O2 − xpowders were synthesized by solution combustion synthesis using citric acid, cellulose and sucrose as single, or intimately mixed, fuels. The powders were characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, N2sorption at −196 °C, H2-temperature programmed reduction and thermogravimetric analyses. Textural properties of the powders were shaped by the peculiar employed fuel. The study of reducibility revealed that oxygen vacancies formation is mainly influenced by both parameters, specific surface area and total pore volume. The different tendency toward reduction played a key role in sintering under reducing atmosphe…

Higher-Order Differential Operators on a Lie Group and Quantization

1995

This talk is devoted mainly to the concept of higher-order polarization on a group, which is introduced in the framework of a Group Approach to Quantization, as a powerful tool to guarantee the irreducibility of quantizations and/or representations of Lie groups in those anomalous cases where the Kostant-Kirilov co-adjoint method or the Borel-Weyl-Bott representation algorithm do not succeed.

Triangular irreducibility of congruences in quasivarieties

2014

Certain forms of irreducibility as well as of equational definability of relative congruences in quasivarieties are investigated. For any integer \({m \geqslant 3}\) and a quasivariety Q, the notion of an m-triangularily meet-irreducible Q-congruence in the algebras of Q is defined. In Section 2, some characterizations of finitely generated quasivarieties involving this notion are provided. Section 3 deals with quasivarieties with equationally definable m-triangular meets of relatively principal congruences. References to finitely based quasivarieties and varieties are discussed.

Irreducibility of Hurwitz spaces of coverings with one special fiber

2006

Abstract Let Y be a smooth, projective complex curve of genus g ⩾ 1. Let d be an integer ⩾ 3, let e = {e1, e2,..., er} be a partition of d and let | e | = Σi=1r(ei − 1). In this paper we study the Hurwitz spaces which parametrize coverings of degree d of Y branched in n points of which n − 1 are points of simple ramification and one is a special point whose local monodromy has cyclic type e and furthermore the coverings have full monodromy group Sd. We prove the irreducibility of these Hurwitz spaces when n − 1 + | e | ⩾ 2d, thus generalizing a result of Graber, Harris and Starr [A note on Hurwitz schemes of covers of a positive genus curve, Preprint, math. Temporalization of the Body Within Phenomenology and the Metaphysics of Manifestation

2004

In this paper, I would like to discuss some problems concerning the question of manifestation of time, its Erscheinung, or its coming-to-be-experienced. Since Aristotle, philosophers have found themselves in paradoxical questioning about the nature of time. Indeed, a major obstacle found its clearest expression in Augustine’s famous dictum: “If you ask me what time is, then I do not know anything about it any more.” So, one would say with him that the whole task is to translate the experience of time into discourse, even if it has been set out as “simply” descriptive. Curiously enough, philosophers seem to have not been at ease with Aristotle’s rather straightforward decision to link time w…

Irreducibility of Hurwitz spaces of coverings with one special fiber and monodromy group a Weyl group of type D d

2007

Let Y be a smooth, connected, projective complex curve. In this paper, we study the Hurwitz spaces which parameterize branched coverings of Y whose monodromy group is a Weyl group of type D d and whose local monodromies are all reflections except one. We prove the irreducibility of these spaces when $$Y \simeq \mathbb {P}^{1}$$ and successively we extend the result to curves of genus g ≥  1.

On the irreducibility of Hurwitz spaces of coverings with an arbitrary number of special points

2013

In this paper we study Hurwitz spaces of coverings of Y with an arbitrary number of special points and with monodromy group a Weyl group of type D_d, where Y is a smooth, complex projective curve. We give conditions for which these spaces are irreducible.
