Osaaminen lastensuojelun sosiaalityössä : Esitys asiantuntijuutta tukevasta urapolkumallista
2020
Exploring the critical incident technique to encourage reflection during project-based learning
2017
Previous research has reported on the challenge of promoting students' generic reflection during authentic project-based courses. This work explores a teaching intervention based on Flanagan's Critical Incident Technique (CIT) during a project-based software development course. The intervention aims at increasing students' awareness of their own learning and at encouraging reflective practice throughout the project. Students were asked to report on 'incidents' when they experienced learning during the course, and to reflect on the task itself at the end of the course. The present study focuses on how students approached the incident reporting task and how they perceived it. The results indi…

To this end, we will approach the institute of disinheritance, its foundation and its jurisprudential evolution. We will also address the capacity and responsibility of the child under legal age and the emancipated minor. Subsequently, we will carry out the study of the disinheritance of the child under legal age, subject to the whim of the specific disinherited causes, since each of the causes provided for in art. 853 Spanish Civil Code are endowed with their own idiosyncrasy, being very complicated, if not impossible, to deal with the subject of this work apart from the vicissitudes that can …
Mentalizing in Organizations: A Psychodynamic Model for an Understanding of Well-Being and Suffering in the Work Contexts
2017
Moving from the paradigms of “mentalization” and “reflective function” (Fonagy and colleagues), this article develops the concept of “mentalizing” in organizations, understood as a process of construction of shared meaning in the work contexts, and whose absence or deterioration produces suffering in organizational experience, exposing individuals to significant psychosocial risks. This model converges in outlining a framework in which the absence of a reflective competence and the lack of symbolization of the experience of work fall on the perception of one's own job, and on the relationship with colleagues and management, producing unsustainability of the work experience. The availability…
Emotional intelligence in Greek teacher education : Findings from a short intervention
2021
AbstractEmotional intelligence (EI) is widely known to be crucial for professional development in education, and it is a curricular component of Greek teacher education. Still, there is little information available on student teachers’ EI. The aim of this study was to explore whether student teachers’ trait EI can be developed through a two-week, EI-focused intervention. The study followed a quasi-experimental design with a mixed method approach, using the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire-Short Form (Greek version) (N = 42) and reflective emotion diaries (N = 19). The participants were third-year undergraduate students studying primary education and teaching at the University of C…
Professional mathematics teacher identity: analysis of reflective narratives from discourses and activities
2012
Published verson of an article in the journal: Journal of Mathematics Teacher Education. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s10857-012-9216-1 This article focuses on the methodological use of reflective narratives from discourses and activities of an experienced primary teacher as evidence of her professional identity. The teacher’s reflective narratives emerge from her participation in a 3-year developmental and research project, Learning Communities in Mathematics, conducted at the University of Agder (UiA) in Norway. As background for our study, we firstly present the teacher in action with her sixth-grade pupils in a mathematics lesson, and then analyse sele…
Reflecting through the designing: a brief analysis of the teacher’s planning process
2016
The aim of this work is to study the conditions in which teachers plan and execute educational actions in the classroom and to find out which difficulties they encountered during the development of the planned teaching action. The “concrete operations” that 15 teachers in the Palermo area had accomplished, were highlighted before, during and after every structured activity to promote the pupils’ oral expression. Specifically, the research, which is collocated in the case study, had the function of verifying forty descriptors. These were grouped in the five cardinal points of the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), with a motivated group of teachers that …
Students’ Experiences of Reflective Writing as a Tool for Learning in Physiotherapy Education
2015
The purpose of this study was to examine physiotherapy students’ experiences of reflective writing. The students (n = 32) were asked to video record their practical activities at school and at workplaces, and to write reflective journals on their experiences. The research data about students’ experiences of reflective writing were collected by interviewing the students. The data were analyzed phenomenographically. The findings revealed four qualitatively different experiences of reflective writing: 1) writing as a useless task; 2) writing as a tool for deepening understanding; 3) writing as a tool for self-reflection; and 4) writing as a tool for professional development. These categories d…

2016
The aim of this ethnographic and autoethnographic research was to explore what kind of a learning culture existed in an 8th grade English class in a Finnish basic education school in the 2011-2012 academic year. The class was taught jointly by a subject teacher and a special education teacher. A teaching experiment was implemented with the support of co-teaching during which teachers aimed to strengthen students' learning autonomy: to support their active learning and help them act as responsible learners. The research data included participant observation notes, interviews of a subject teacher and students, and different kinds of documents produced by teachers and students during the imple…
