Space-Efficient 1.5-Way Quantum Turing Machine

1.5QTM is a sort of QTM (Quantum Turing Machine) where the head cannot move left (it can stay where it is and move right). For computations is used other - work tape. In this paper will be studied possibilities to economize work tape space more than the same deterministic Turing Machine can do (for some of the languages). As an example language (0i1i|i ≥ 0) is chosen, and is proved that this language could be recognized by deterministic Turing machine using log(i) cells on work tape , and 1.5QTM can recognize it using constant cells quantity.
IPR gender gaps: a first look at utility model, design right and trademark filings

This study extends the analysis of the gender gap in patenting into design rights, utility model (UMs) and trademarks (TMs), which are complementary methods for protecting intellectual property. The analysis is descriptive and uses register data from the Finnish patent and registration office covering the years 1982–2013. A persistent gender gap is found for all intellectual property rights. The gap has narrowed over time for national patent, design right and TM filings but not for UM filings. It is found that, in comparison to men, women are relatively less often single inventors or designers and more often members of inventor or designer teams. peerReviewed

Angļu valoda arī šobrīd ir nozīmīga ES institūciju darba valoda, kurā parādās pat dažas unikālas “eiro-angļu valodas” iezīmes. Šajā pētījumā aplūkotas dažas vārdu kopas, kas tai raksturīgas, nosakot Eur-LEX angļu valodas korpusa biežākās lietvārdu kolokācijas. Izmantotās metodes bija salīdzinošā literatūras avotu analīze, kā arī vairāki kvantitatīvi un kvalitatīvi korpusanalīzes paņēmieni. Rezultāti parādīja, ka dažas no šīm lietvārdu kolokācijām veido ES terminoloģiju, kamēr citas iespējams sadalīt tuvu sinonīmu grupās pēc semantiskās nozīmes. Adaptive Hardware Implementation for the Deblocking Filter Used in H.264/AVC Using System GeneratorEnter title

International audience; Xilinx System Generator is a Matlab/Simulink high-level based design tool especially for the development of complex digital circuits using Hardware Description Language (HDL). In this paper we propose a high level model for the deblocking filter used in H.264/AVC using System Generator of Matlab/Simulink. Synthesis results are compared with implementations realized using RTL level. The proposed model allows for rapid edits of the architectures and permits the implementation of filters used in other standards and norms (HEVC for example). The proposed implementations are verified using Xilinx-Virtex5 platforms.

Abstract Purpose: This study estimated the long-term individual-level productivity costs of physical inactivity. Methods: The data were drawn from the Northern Finland Birth Cohort 1966, to which the productivity cost variables (sick leaves and disability pensions) from Finnish registries were linked. Individuals (N = 6261) were categorized into physical activity groups based on their level of physical activity, which was measured in three ways: 1) self-reported leisure-time moderate- to vigorous-intensity physical activity (MVPA) at 46 yr old, 2) longitudinal self-reported leisure-time MVPA at 31–46 yr old, and 3) accelerometer-measured overall MVPA at 46 yr old. Localisée en limite SE de l’agglomération rémoise, sur la commune de Cernay-les-Reims, l’emprise de l’opération porte sur une surface de 11 300 m2. Cette neuvième concentration de vestiges, fouillée sur un parc d’activité, correspond à un établissement rural de l’Antiquité tardive, prolongé à l’époque médiévale par une zone d’activité artisanale. Ces deux occupations se développent le long d’un axe de circulation qui perdure vraisemblablement de l’Antiquité à la première guerre mondiale.

We have studied optimal sample allocation, associated with small area estimation, when the objective is to obtain as accurate estimates as possible, for the population and for the subpopulations, called as areas here. It is a question of a two-level optimization problem. The basic premise is composed of planned areas, stratified sampling, and small overall sample size predetermined by restricted time and budget resources.
