The classical view of muscles as independent motors has been challenged over the past decades. An alternative view has emerged in which muscles are not isolated but embedded in a three-dimensional connective tissue network that links them to adjacent muscles and other non-muscular structures in the body. Animal studies showing that the forces measured at the distal and proximal ends of a muscle are not equal have provided undisputable evidence that these connective tissue linkages are strong enough to serve as an extra pathway for muscular force transmission. Basque pilota is a traditional sport played mainly by men. A project emerged in 2005 to promote female participation: Emakumea Pilotari (Woman pelota player). In this article we present the main points that emerged from an ethnographic study of the social relationships that playing Basque pilota can provide. The study was carried out in 2011-2012 season with a purposive sample of 28 adult women Basque pilota players (pilotaris) (between 22 and 60 years old). 26 participants were pilotaris in recreational groups and the other two were their trainers. Aims: Psychotherapy is a widely used treatment for mental disorders, but whether it also improves employment and other labour market outcomes remains inconclusive. This study examined the effectiveness of a nationwide subsidized psychotherapy programme using extensive register-based data. Methods: The sample consisted of individuals who applied for rehabilitative psychotherapy in Finland in 2009–2012 ( n = 35,083). In the contexts where people with intellectual disability work, there are factors that determine their job satisfaction. The objective of this study was to test the adequacy of the central assumptions of the Job Demands–Resources (JD-R) theory in workers with intellectual disability employed in different work alternatives. Purpose To examine the associations between longitudinal physical activity (PA) patterns and the development of cardiometabolic risk factors from adolescence to young adulthood. Tässä artikkelissa tarkastellaan työelämän ja koulutuksen ulkopuolella olevien nuorten aikuisten näkemyksiä ryhmämuotoisuuden mahdollisuuksista kuntoutuksessa. Tutkimuksen aineisto koostuu sosiaalista ja ammatillista kuntoutusta yhdistävään kuntoutusryhmään osallistuneiden nuorten aikuisten kolmesta ryhmä- ja kolmesta yksilöhaastattelusta (yhteensä 16 haastateltavaa). Lähtökohdan ryhmämuotoisuuteen liittyvien mahdollisuuksien tarkasteluun muodostavat sosiaalisia ryhmiä ia identiteettiä valottavat näkökulmat.
