Long-lived dynamic heterogeneity in a relaxor ferroelectric

The polydispersive dielectric response of the relaxor ferroelectric lead magnesium niobate was investigated using nonresonant spectral hole-burning experiments. Using large alternating electric fields, specific parts of the relaxation-time distribution could be addressed selectively. This provides evidence for the dynamic heterogeneity of the dipolar reorientation process. The refilling of single as well as of double holes was much slower than the time scale set by the pump frequencies. Upon refilling, the holes exhibited no signs of spectral broadening. The domain structure in PLZT (6-8)/65/35 and spontaneous ferroelectric-relaxor phase transition

Abstract In order to test the hypothesis proposed in Reference 10 about a spontaneous relaxor-ferroelectric phase transition in PLZT (6-7)/65/35 the hysteresis loops and domain structure measurements were carried out. The results confirm this hypothesis. The appearance of the ferroelectric long range order in PLZT with decreasing concentration of La ions is explained by a larger coupling between the feroelectrically active BO6 octahedrons due to smaller concentration of defects and higher dielectric constant.

Polar nanoregions in Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3 (PMN): insights from a supercell approach

Abstract We report construction of a model of polar nanoregions in the PMN relaxor ferroelectric based on first-principles lattice dynamics for chemically ordered supercells [S.A. Prosandeev et al., Phys. Rev. B 70, 134110 (2004)], combined with invariance under permutations and dipole-dipole interaction as a source supporting randomly oriented residual polarization. Representative analytical estimates of polar nanore-gion — supercell mapping reproduce both nonzero local and zero macroscopic polarization of the structure, as well as the temperature change of the supercell anisotropy at cooling and field cooling.

Influence of cation order on the dielectric properties of (1 – x)Pb(Sc 0:5 Nb 0:5 )O 3 -xPb(Yb 0:5 Nb 0:5 )O 3 ceramics

Ceramic lead niobates and their solid solutions (1 - x)Pb(Sc0:5Nb0:5)O3 - xPb(Yb0:5Nb0:5)O3 were synthesized by solid state reactions from oxides. The structure of investigated samples was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD). Dielectric studies of the ceramics were performed by means of broadband dielectric spectroscopy at the temperature ranging from 600 K to 140 K. For all ceramic samples a diffuse phase transition as well as relaxor ferroelectric behavior were observed. © 2020 Barbara Garbarz-Glos et al., published by Sciendo 2020. Relaxor ferroelectric ceramics of LiTaO3-type

Abstract A ferroelectric relaxation has been identified in Li1-xCax (Ta1-xZrx)O3(x = 0.15 and 0.20) ceramics with LiTaO3-type structure. The relaxation frequency fr is minimum and the dispersion step (ϵ′S - ϵ′∞) is maximum at TC. When x increases, a higher conductivity associated with a lower activation energy and a decrease of the magnitude of fr at Tc are observed, while the unit cell volume becomes larger, TC lower and the transition more diffuse.

Thermal Expansion, Burns Temperature and Electromechanical Properties in Na1/2Bi1/2TiO3-SrTiO3-PbTiO3Solid Solutions

Thermal expansion and electromechanical properties are studied for compositions Na1/2Bi1/2TiO3-SrTiO3-PbTiO3, belonging to various locations in the phase diagram. The main purpose of the studies is to extend the range of physical properties, which characterise the relaxor state and could be used for comparison with other relaxors. Possibility to evaluate Burns temperature from thermal expansion is discussed. The obtained results are compared to the well-know relaxor ferroelectric PLZT.

Dielectric Properties of PbSc1/2Nb1/2O3-PbTiO3Ceramics

Lead titanate solid solutions exhibits extreme values of some physical parameters. We have investigated a ferroelectric relaxor ceramics of PSN-PT composition near the morphotropic phase boundary. Results are discussed with account for the relaxor properties related to defects and disordering of the PSN-PT system.
