In a context of globalized higher education, new stakeholders have emerged, and building stronger relationships between them is of the utmost relevance in today's environment. The approach from the graduate perspective helps reinforce bonds and manage lifelong learning in an innovative way. This study empirically tests a model that includes variables such as university image, student–professor interaction, satisfaction, identification, and loyalty, which are topics of increasing relevance for competitive and innovative universities. Exploring the role of knowledge management practices on exports: A dynamic capabilities view

Abstract Drawing on dynamic capabilities view, this work provides empirical evidence on the role of knowledge management practices on export intensity in SMEs in a mature and global, non-high-tech industry. A quantitative study with structural equation modeling was carried out on a sample of 157 Spanish and Italian manufacturing companies in the ceramic tile industry. Our results suggest the existence of a mediating effect of dynamic capabilities on exports, hence the implementation of knowledge management practices is a necessary but not sufficient condition to improve exporting, requiring the existence of dynamic capabilities to reconfigure these capabilities. Considering that social media plays an important role in this process, this paper analyzes the antecedents and consequences of the use of enterprise social media platforms according to the employee's perception. An appraisal of Piero Sraffa's 'The Laws of Returns under Competitive Conditions'

The paper proposes a new interpretation of Sraffa's 1926 Economic Journal article, ‘The Laws of Returns under Competitive Conditions’, according to which the latter derives from the same strategy of research which underlies its 1925 Italian precursor, ‘Sulle relazioni fra costo e quantità prodotta’. Sraffa tested the explanatory power of a Marshallian monopolistic partial equilibrium model and concluded that that model is able to treat one source of variable returns (firm-internal economies); but this articulation of Marshall‘s theory does not substantially improve on the trade-off between logical consistency and empirical relevance which afflicted the theory in its whole. © 2001, Taylor & …
Statistical criteria for early-stopping of support vector machines

This paper proposes the use of statistical criteria for early-stopping support vector machines, both for regression and classification problems. The method basically stops the minimization of the primal functional when moments of the error signal (up to fourth order) become stationary, rather than according to a tolerance threshold of primal convergence itself. This simple strategy induces lower computational efforts and no significant differences are observed in terms of performance and sparsity.

Abstract The vehicle-routing problem with private fleet and common carrier (VRPPC) extends the capacitated VRP by considering the option of outsourcing customers to subcontractors at a customer-dependent cost instead of serving them with the private fleet. The VRPPC has important applications in small package shipping and manufacturing, but despite its relevance, no exact solution approach has been introduced so far. Assessing the role of evidence of mechanisms in causal extrapolation

Extrapolation of causal claims from study populations to other populations of interest is a problematic issue. The standard approach in experimental research, which prioritises randomized controlled trials and statistical evidence, is not devoid of difficulties. Granted that, it has been defended that evidence of mechanisms is indispensable for causal extrapolation. We argue, contrarily, that this sort of evidence is not indispensable.
