Data sets for energy rating of photovoltaic modules

2013

Abstract A proposal for generating standard climatic data sets for use in energy rating of photovoltaic (PV) modules is presented which will give a good comparability between different technologies. The current proposal of standard data sets consisting of “typical days” do not give realistic estimates of PV performance and thus is not sufficient as a rating standard. A dataset striking the balance between being significant for any location but does not consisting of too much data is required. A method to generate such a dataset is presented, meeting all the requirements of an international standard while being sufficiently accurate to differentiate between different devices of different man…

Preface of the Workshop Organizers

2021

The First International Workshop on Requirement Engineering for Software startups and Emerging Technologies (RESET) is a part of IEEE International Requirements Engineering Conference 2021, held on 20th September, 2021. The workshop brought together requirements engineering researchers and practitioners to discuss the need for adapting conventional requirement engineering artifacts (i.e. requirement definition, metrics), processes and practices to software projects in startup context and/or dealing with emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain etc. Further, the workshop also presents research findings about designing AI powered software systems ethically. The work…

On Integrating Action Research and Design Research

2010

IS research has been criticized for having little influence on practice. One approach to achieving more relevance is to conduct research using appropriate research methods that balance the interests of both researchers and practitioners. This chapter examines the similarities between two methods that address this mandate by adopting a proactive stance to investigating information systems in organizations. These two approaches, action research and design research, both directly intervene in “real-world” domains and effect changes in these domains. We investigate these similarities by examining exemplars of each type of research according to the criteria of the other. Our analysis reveals int…

Comparing motivational, self-regulatory and habitual processes in a computer-tailored physical activity intervention in hospital employees - protocol…

2017

Abstract Background Most people do not engage in sufficient physical activity to confer health benefits and to reduce risk of chronic disease. Healthcare professionals frequently provide guidance on physical activity, but often do not meet guideline levels of physical activity themselves. The main objective of this study is to develop and test the efficacy of a tailored intervention to increase healthcare professionals’ physical activity participation and quality of life, and to reduce work-related stress and absenteeism. This is the first study to compare the additive effects of three forms of a tailored intervention using different techniques from behavioural theory, which differ accordin…

Music as a resource for psychological health for music professionals : A Nordic survey

2020

Purpose: Interest in the health relevance of music has been growing rapidly, yet few studies have addressed the protective role of music for music professionals themselves. In the current study, we investigated music professionals’ (music teachers, music therapists, musicians and academics) health, particularly their uses of music as a resource for their psychological health. Design: An online survey (N = 504) for music professionals was conducted across four Nordic countries. Participants responded to questions on music as a resource for psychological health and assessed their general levels of health and health behaviors. Their self-reported health was compared to similar prior data from …

Responsibility and intellectual property in synthetic biology: A proposal for using Responsible Research and Innovation as a basic framework for inte…

2015

Synthetic biology (SynBio) is an engineering view of biotechnology that has the potential to increase the number and industrial utility of biotechnological applications by implementing engineering principles such as standardization and modularity. The boundaries between SynBio, biotechnology, and metabolic engineering are not always clear, but assessing SynBio in a wider sense—that of modeling‐based biotechnology and/or “sophisticated” metabolic engineering—we find that a significant number of applications and research articles have been generated in the past few years [1]. One of the best‐known examples is that of a synthetic pathway for producing artemisinic acid, a precursor to the antim…

Pola Graisa sadarbības principa pielietojamība verbālās ironijas analīzē

2020

DECENTRALISATION AS AN INCENTIVE SCHEME

1987

Recent changes have introduced more decentralization in a number of traditionally centralized countries.1 In the case of France, it is sometimes claimed that the 1982-1983 reform of subcentral government is of historical importance. Although the principles of that reform are not contested any more by the new majority elected in 1986, opinions still differ on a number of policy issues. Some of the issues are presented in this introductory section. But the main purpose of this paper is not to expose or discuss in detail the problems of decentralization in France. As argued in the second part of the introductory section, the theoretical framework in which the policy issues of decentralization …

Dynamic routing-and-inventory problems: a review

1998

The paper presents a review of the available literature on a class of problems denoted as dynamic routing-and-inventory (DRAI) problems. They are characterized by the simultaneous relevance of routing and of inventory issues in a dynamic environment, within the framework of distribution logistics. A classification scheme is first proposed for these problems. Then the results obtained in this area are summarized. Finally, the papers available in the literature are clustered and discussed according to the proposed scheme.
