In both episcopal cities studied here, Auxerre and Autun, in Burgundy, the sites chosen for the establishment of monasteries can be partly determined by their functions, more or less restrictive. The most frequent in the cities are communities of monks settled in the seventh-eighth centuries to serve a funerary basilica or a tomb. This function involves an extra muros situation whatever the age of the foundation of the basilica. Inside the cities, truly monasteries, that is to say, communities of ascetics, are few; these are located outside the walls, but, although isolated from the city by the rampart, these remain in contact with it by symbolic functions. Literacy practices in two Danish-Somali families : Between training, testing and “feeding the soul”

This article explores the literacy practices in two Danish-Somali families with young children. The data comes from focused ethnographic fieldwork in the families. The study is rooted in a sociocultural view of literacy, aiming at understanding how different ways of engaging with language and the written word express different beliefs and values about literacy. The study finds that school-oriented literacy training and literacy tests as well as religious practices play important roles in the everyday lives of the families. Pedagogical Purposes of Narratives in Worldview Education : Teachers' Conceptions

This study explores teachers’ pedagogical purposes for using narratives in Finnish religious and worldview education. The article stems from a philosophical and pedagogical view on narrative cognition as a fundamental element of worldview education. Teachers work as interpreters of the cultural stock of stories, including culturally fundamental religious narratives, and convert it into a pedagogical tool for identity work. The research data consists of interviews with primary school class teachers (N=6) about using narratives in the context of worldview education. Głównym celem artykułu jest ukazanie sensowności korelacji lekcji religii z etyką. Pamiętając o tym, że obecnie lekcje etyki w polskiej szkole nie są obligatoryjne, lecz mają charakter zajęć fakultatywnych, wiele uwagi poświęcono potrzebie prowadzenia jej w szkole. Wskazano też na znaczenie lekcji etyki w kształceniu ogólnym każdego ucznia. This article examines some of the cultural and theological motivations of his ministerial work, based on poems, sermons and documents from his years as a bishop. RESUMEN: El objetivo del estudio fue analizar las propiedades psicométricas de las Escalas de Creencia en un Mundo Justo (CMJ) General y Personal. Por medio de análisis factorial confirmatorio se examinó la estructura interna de ambas, testeando si evalúan un mismo constructo global o si constituyen dos dimensiones diferenciadas. También se evaluó la consistencia interna de cada una, por medio de alfa de Cronbach, y sus relaciones lineales con las orientaciones religiosas.
