Career goal-related success expectations across two educational transitions: A seven-year longitudinal study

2013

The purpose of this seven-year longitudinal study was to examine the trajectories of adolescents' career goal-related success expectations during two educational transitions. Altogether 850 (48% female, M Age = 16) participants reported their success expectations for their career-related goals, first in the last year of comprehensive school and four times during the following seven years. Overall, the success expectations showed a significant increase. However, there was considerable heterogeneity in the development of these expectations. Growth Mixture Modeling showed that four trajectories fitted the data best: high-increasing (78%), low-increasing (9%), decreasing (6%) and U-shaped (7%).…

Marte Meo as a port of entry to parental sensitivity - a three–case study

2019

Abstract Background Early parent- child relations play an important role in children’s development. Therapeutic intervention towards infants and toddlers at high-risk intends to prevent mental health problems. In this work, the parent-child-dyad is crucial. The video interaction guidance method, Marte Meo, is one among different methods used in attachment-based treatment in an outpatient infant mental health clinic. Parental sensitivity towards infants and toddlers needs is considered significant in developing secure attachment. Secure attachment is further considered decisive for mental health and the extent to which children are at risk of developing mental health problems. Different trea…

Childhood exposure to parental alienation practices: a socio-educational analysis

2020

Abstract: Objective. To carry out a study about family alienation practices and the extent to which they affect minors as they are exposed to such practices. Methodology. A qualitative research approach is used. In order to conduct this research, a case study made up of five families who attend the Specialised Family and Infancy Service in Spain was carried out. Results and conclusions. The obtained results revealed the high degree of effect on the family members who made up the sample due to the conflicts that legal separation or divorce procedures cause. It is important to ensure that the fundamental right of minors are suitably related to both their mothers and fathers by maintaining all…

BIOLOGY OF THE WREN, TROGLODYTES TROGLODYTES, IN A MEDITERRANEAN INSULAR AGROECOSYSTEM

2009

In the last years many species of birds have exploited urban and suburban habitats, taking opportunistically advantage of human presence for their niche parameters. The Wren is one of them and shows a high variability in the choice of nesting sites in the gardens of the outskirts of Palermo (Sicily). For many years the authors studied the breeding habits of this small bird, and thanks to the video-tape recordings on the nests, they were able to gather new information on its feeding habits and parental care. They could establish the role played by both parents, the different prey types carried to the chicks, and other data, scarcely known in the southern part of distribution of this passerin…

How to escape from insect egg parasitoids: A review of potential factors explaining parasitoid absence across the Insecta: Escape from insect egg par…

2020

The egg is the first life stage directly exposed to the environment in oviparous animals, including many vertebrates and most arthropods. Eggs are vulnerable and prone to mortality risks. In arthropods, one of the most common egg mortality factors is attack from parasitoids. Yet, parasitoids that attack the egg stage are absent in more than half of all insect (sub)orders. In this review, we explore possible causes explaining why eggs of some insect taxa are not parasitized. Many insect (sub)orders that are not attacked by egg parasitoids lack herbivorous species, with some notable exceptions. Factors we consider to have led to escape from egg parasitism are parental egg care, rapid egg deve…

Parentage verification of Valle del Belice dairy sheep using microsatellite markers

2008

The objectives of the present work were to evaluate polymorphism of microsatellite markers, develop a parentage test and estimate misidentification rate on Valle del Belice Sicilian dairy sheep breed. Polymorphism was evaluated from 184 randomly selected animals from 5 different flocks. A total of 21 microsatellite markers including CSRD247, ILST011, McM527, APO010, INRA132, DU194351, DU323541, FCB128, McM16, OarCP49, ILST087, DU223896, ILST005, TCRVB06, SPS113A, INRA063A, SPS115, DU206192, DU216028, BM827 and McM54 were amplified using three PCR reactions and fragment lengths determined in a single multiplex electrophoresis run. Markers were easily genotyped, very polymorphic and in Hardy-…

ROLE OF BEHAVIOUR IN MARINE ORGANISMS: POTENTIAL EFFECTS UNDER FUTURE OCEAN CONDITIONS.

2021

Over the last 250 years, the intensive burning of fossil fuels along with industrial processes and land uses (e.g. clearing forests and agriculture) has contributed to an increase in atmospheric CO2 from approximately 280 to 410 ppm, with a further increase (from 730 to 1020 ppm) projected by the end of this century. About 30% of the anthropogenic CO2 has been absorbed by the ocean, with a consequent decrease of the ocean’s surface pH causing a phenomenon better known as Ocean Acidification (OA). The average pH of the surface ocean has declined from 8.2 by 0.1 units since pre-industrial times as a result of CO2 emissions and a further reduction of 0.3–0.5 pH units is expected to occur by th…

Il danno da perdita del rapporto parentale negli ordinamenti stranieri e la sua compatibilità con il principio dell'ordine pubblico: raffronti compar…

2021

The essay deals with the damage caused by loss of parental relationship and how it is regulated in various foreign legal systems. In particular, it will analyze the evolution of the Italian concept of the limit of “ordine pubblico”, as regulated by L. 218/1995, through a jurisprudence analysis and it will be highlighted that there is a hard core of this concept, which is linked to the protection of fundamental human rights, which cannot be affected by any foreign legal system. Finally, it will be seen how also the regulation of damages caused by the loss of parental relationship, being related to the protection of fundamental human rights, is intimately connected with the concept of “ordine…
