Crystal structure of 1-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidin-1-ium trifluoromethanesulfonate

2015

In the cation of the title salt, C9H20NO+·CF3O3S−, the six-membered heterocyclic ring displays a chair conformation. In the crystal, centrosymmetric pairs of cations and anions are linked by N—H...O and O—H...O hydrogen bonds to form rings with aR44(14) graph-set motif.

Crystal structure of C-2-benzo-thia-zole-N-methyl-nitrone.

2015

The molecule of the title compound {systematic name:N-[(benzothiazol-2-yl)methylidene]methylamineN-oxide}, C9H8N2OS, is close to planar [maximum deviation from the mean plane = 0.081 (2) Å], its conformation being stabilized by a strong intramolecular attractive S...O interaction [2.6977 (16) Å]. In the crystal, molecules are linked into centrosymmetric dimers by pairs of weak C—H...O hydrogen bonds.

Genetic Systems for Monitoring Interactions of Transmembrane Domains in Bacterial Membranes

2013

In recent years several systems have been developed to study interactions of TM domains within the inner membrane of the Gram-negative bacterium Escherichia coli. Mostly, a transmembrane domain of interest is fused to a soluble DNA-binding domain, which dimerizes in E. coli cytoplasm after interactions of the transmembrane domains. The dimeric DNA-binding domain subsequently binds to a promoter/operator region and thereby activates or represses a reporter gene. In 1996 the first bacterial system has been introduced to measure interactions of TM helices within a bacterial membrane, which is based on fusion of a transmembrane helix of interest to the DNA-binding domain of the Vibrio cholerae …

Taxonomical and Functional Assessment of the Endometrial Microbiota in A Context of Recurrent Reproductive Failure: A Case Report

2019

Investigation of the microbial community in the female reproductive tract has revealed that the replacement of a community dominated by Lactobacillus with pathogenic bacteria may be associated with implantation failure or early spontaneous abortion in patients undergoing assisted reproductive technology (ART) treatment. Herein we describe taxonomically and functionally the endometrial microbiome of an infertile patient with repeated reproductive failures (involving an ectopic pregnancy and two clinical miscarriages). The microbiological follow-up is presented over 18-month in which the microbiota was evaluated in six endometrial fluid samples. The microbial profile of 16S rRNA gene sequenci…

The Impact of Age on the Association Between Physical Activity and White Matter Integrity in Cognitively Healthy Older Adults

2020

Cognition emerges from coordinated processing among distributed cortical brain regions, enabled through interconnected white matter networks. Cortical disconnection caused by age-related decline in white matter integrity (WMI) is likely to contribute to age-related cognitive decline. Physical activity (PA) has been suggested to have beneficial effects on white matter structure. However, its potential to counteract age-related decline in WMI is not yet well established. The present explorative study analyzed if PA was associated with WMI in cognitively healthy older adults and if this association was modulated by age. Forty-four cognitively healthy older individuals (aged 60–88 years) with d…

Sensory Processing Disorders in Children and Adolescents: Taking Stock of Assessment and Novel Therapeutic Tools

2022

Sensory processing disorders (SPDs) can be described as difficulty detecting, modulating, interpreting, and/or responding to sensory experiences. Because SPDs occur in many individuals with autism spectrum disorder and in other populations with neurodevelopmental disorders, it is important to distinguish between typical and atypical functioning in sensory processes and to identify early phenotypic markers for developing SPDs. This review considers different methods for diagnosing SPDs to outline a multidisciplinary approach useful for developing valid diagnostic measures. In particular, the advantages and limitations of the most commonly used tools in assessment of SPDs, such as caregiver r…

Longitudinal associations of physical activity and pubertal development with academic achievement in adolescents.

2020

Highlights • Boys with higher levels of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity had better academic achievement than those with lower levels of physical activity at baseline. • Physical activity was not associated with academic achievement at follow-up in boys or girls. • Continuously inactive adolescents had poorer academic achievement over the follow-up period than their more active peers. • Girls with more advanced pubertal status had better academic achievement than other girls.
