Between the general elections of April 5, 1992 and those of March 27, 1994, which ended early the eleventh legislature, the shortest in the history of the republic, a political crisis took place which to many appeared to be the end of a "first" and beginning of a "second" republic. In this twilight of the republic of parties, the communist Nilde Iotti was called, by virtue of her political authority and ideal continuity, to the presidency of the bicameral commission for the reform of the constitution. While completing her work, Iotti was aware that the last opportunity was being wasted to defend what remained of the republic of parties.

Francis Osborne (1593-1659) was the celebrated author of The Advice to a Son, a very popular book in his days. He also wrote some tracts and pamphlets during the so called “Engagement Controversy”, that led to the publication of many republican writings to support the new regime. Osborn’s intellectual and ideological contribution was peculiar, because his condemn of tyranny was carried on in a political language that used Machiavellian ideas, the republican concept of liberty and the new and well-known expression “reason of state”.

Abstract Background We assessed the 10-year efficacy, immunogenicity and safety of two doses of a combined measles-mumps-rubella-varicella vaccine (MMRV) or one dose of a monovalent varicella vaccine (V) in children from Czech Republic, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Slovakia. Methods This was a phase IIIB follow-up of an observer-blind, randomized, controlled trial (NCT00226499). On Monday 4 May 2015, the speaker of Parliament of the Republic of Moldova published the Kroll report on his Internet blog after thousands of people rallied on Sunday 3 May in the capital, Chisinau, to protest against endemic corruption in the country, and demand recovery of the missing billions in the Ilan Shor group scandal. The Kroll report aims at investigating the apparent theft of nearly one-fifth of the country's annual GDP. The Central African Republic's Special Criminal Court (SCC), the latest hybrid criminal tribunal, may be considered an important legal development concerning victims of mass atrocities in international criminal justice mechanisms due to certain characteristics. Yet there is no academic commentary on victims at the SCC; this piece seeks to fill the gap. First it considers restorative justice as a general framework for victims’ roles and rights in criminal justice in contexts of mass atrocities. Šī pētījuma mērķis ir analizēt Igaunijas, Latvijas un Lietuvas brīvprātīgo līdzdalību Spānijas pilsoņu karā (1936-1939). Lai izveidotu šo kopīgo vēsturisko stāstījumu ir izmantoti un pārstrādāti daudzveidīgi dokumentāli avoti. Baltijas brīvprātīgo loma ir tēma, kura nepamatoti palika aizmirsta, mūsdienu pētījumiem ir labi dokumentēta bāze. Kamēr visu trīs Baltijas valstu autoritārās valdības bija pasludinājušas sevi neitrālas Spānijas konfliktā (kā lielākā daļa Eiropas valstu), notika savdabīga jauniešu mobilizācija, kuri saprota, ka Spānijas konflikts ir cīņa pret starptautisko nacistu fašisma universālajā dimensijā.
