Histologic analysis of specimens from laparoscopic endometrioma excision performed by different surgeons: does the surgeon matter?

Objective To evaluate whether the amount of ovarian tissue inadvertently removed along with the endometrioma cyst wall at laparoscopy differs in relation to the operating surgeon's level of expertise. Design Multicenter, prospective trial. Setting Four tertiary care university hospitals. Patient(s) Fifty patients, aged 25 to 40 years, with monolateral ovarian endometriomas who underwent laparoscopic excision. ABSTRACT The Mediterranean Federation for the Advancing of Vascular Surgery (MeFAVS) was founded in 2018, with the aim to promote cooperation among vascular professionals within Mediterranean countries. Due to its prominent social and economic impact on national health systems, diabetic peripheral artery was selected as the very first topic to be investigated by the federation. In this second paper, different experiences from delegates of participating countries were shared to define common strategies to harmonize, standardize, and optimize education and training in the Vascular Surgery specialty.

Global health training in paediatric residency programs: the Italian experience

Osservatorio Nazionale Specializzandi Pediatria (ONSP) is an Italian association of residents in paediatrics, and one of its interests is to support paediatric training in developing countries. In 2014, for this purpose, ONSP performed a survey with the aim of describing interest, participation, resources, and obstacles of residents who are involved in global health training within paediatric residency programs. The objective of this paper is to present how the roles attributed to the institution of the EU Council Rotating Presidency changed after the reform of the Lisbon Treaty. It argues that the legal modifications introduced by the treaty brought about some further going changes of the roles performed by the EU member state presiding the EU Council. The analysis goes beyond simple reading the Reform Treaty and focuses on the perceptions and expectations towards the Rotating Presidency (as understood by the logic of appropriateness).
