Hybrid magnetic materials formed by ferritin intercalated into a layered double hydroxide
2008
A hybrid magnetic material formed by ferritin intercalated into a layered double hydroxide (LDH) of Mg and Al (Mg/Al molar ratio 2) is prepared and characterized through powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) and high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). One observes an enhancement in the thermal stability of the ferritin molecules when they are inserted in the layered material. Magnetic measurements of the hybrid material exhibit the typical superparamagnetic behaviour of the ferritin molecule. On the other hand, the intercalation of ferritin into the LDH guarante…
H-Point standard additions method for resolution of binary mixtures with simultaneous addition of both analytes
1995
Abstract The basis of the H-point standard additions method, HPSAM, with simultaneous addition of both analytes is proposed for the resolution of binary mixtures. It is a modification of the previously described H-point standard additions method that permits the resolution of both species from a unique calibration set by making the simultaneous addition of the two analytes. The method uses as analytical signals the absorbances at pairs of wavelengths where each species shows the same absorbance. The required data to apply the method are the absorbance values at the previously selected wavelengths for the sample alone and spiked with both species at known concentrations. Linear relations bet…
Learning to live together: a challenge for schools located in contexts of social vulnerability
2017
Currently, there are many educational centres that demonstrate the need to promote initiatives to improve coexistence at school at the international level, especially in those located in contexts of social vulnerability. A socio-educational programme has been developed, applied and evaluated at a Singular Education Action Centre (Centro de Acción Educativa Singular - C.A.E.S) in the city of Valencia (Spain). To ascertain the programme's impact and possible generalization to other contexts, a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design with a control group was used. Information was collected from 297 students and 54 teachers based on questionnaires assessing coexistence at school. The results…
Formal verification of a Cooperative Automatic Repeat reQuest MAC protocol
2012
Author's version of an article published in the journal: Computer Standards & Interfaces. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.csi.2011.12.001 Cooperative communications, in which a relay node helps the source node to deliver its packets to the destination node, are able to obtain significant benefits in terms of transmission reliability, coverage extension and energy efficiency. A Cooperative Automatic Repeat reQuest (C-ARQ) MAC protocol has been recently proposed to exploit cooperative diversity at the MAC layer. in this paper, we validate the integrity and the validity of the C-ARQ protocol using formal methods. The protocol logic is modeled in SDL and implem…
Organocatalytic Enantioselective Synthesis of α-Hydroxyketones through a Friedel−Crafts Reaction of Naphthols and Activated Phenols with Aryl- and Al…
2016
[EN] An efficient organocatalytic asymmetric synthesis of alpha-hydroxyketones has been developed. Quinine-derived thiourea catalyzed the enantioselective Friedel Crafts alkylation of naphthols and activated phenols with aryl- and alkylglyoxal hydrates, providing the corresponding chiral alpha-hydroxyketones with high yields (up to 97%) and excellent enantioselectivities (up to 99% ee).
Towards high-resolution laser ionization spectroscopy of the heaviest elements in supersonic gas jet expansion
2017
Resonant laser ionization and spectroscopy are widely used techniques at radioactive ion beam facilities to produce pure beams of exotic nuclei and measure the shape, size, spin and electromagnetic multipole moments of these nuclei. However, in such measurements it is difficult to combine a high efficiency with a high spectral resolution. Here we demonstrate the on-line application of atomic laser ionization spectroscopy in a supersonic gas jet, a technique suited for high-precision studies of the ground- and isomeric-state properties of nuclei located at the extremes of stability. The technique is characterized in a measurement on actinium isotopes around the N=126 neutron shell closure. A…
Considerations on the modelling and optimisation of resolution of ionisable compounds in extended pH-range columns
2005
Abstract The problems associated to the modelling and optimisation of the chromatographic resolution of mixtures involving ionisable solutes at varying pH and acetonitrile content are discussed. Several retention models that separate the contributions of solute, column and stationary phase, were used. The retention was predicted with low errors in large pH domains (2–12), which was an essential requirement to face the optimisation of resolution. The selected mixture was particularly problematic under the viewpoint of resolution, owing to the excessively diverse acid–base behaviour of solutes. This variety led to sudden drops in retention at different pH for each solute, yielding numerous pe…
A Domino Ring‐Closure Followed by Retro‐Diels–Alder Reaction for the Preparation of Pyrimido[2,1‐ a ]isoindole Enantiomers
2016
A simple method was developed to prepare pyrimido[2,1-a]isoindole derivatives by using di-endo- and di-exo-ethyl 3-aminobicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-ene-2-carboxylate enantiomers as chiral sources. The method is based on a domino ring-closure reaction of norbornene 2-aminohydroxamic acid followed by microwave-induced retro-Diels–Alder reaction. In the case of enantiomeric starting substances, the chirality is transferred from norbornene derivatives to pyrimido[2,1-a]isoindoles. The configurations of the synthesized compounds were determined by 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy [based on 2D NOE cross-peaks and 3JH,H coupling constants] and X-ray crystallography.
Histochemistry of the Mitochondrial System
1964
It has been customary to introduce any discussion on the mitochondrion by summing up its functions as the energy center of the cell. Because of the extensive reviews and symposia in this field in recent years such an introduction would be repetitious and will therefore be omitted. — The relative ease by which mitochondria can be isolated from various cells and the considerable purity of such fractions permitted an analysis of the overall functions of mitochondria and the extrapolation of these results, on a statistical basis, to a single mitochondrion. Further fragmentation of isolated mitochondria into sub-units that carry segments of the functional activity of the whole organelle signific…

English Abstract: This is essay seeks to expose not very much analyzed experiences by the legal systems of the continental Europeans, but very well known by the Anglo-Saxon systems. The stated goal is to encourage debate on these alternatives to resolve conflicts in society, with special attention to mediation.
