Luminescence properties of KNbO3 crystals
1997
Thermostimulated luminescence, X-ray-induced luminescence, photostimulated luminescence as well as the time-resolved luminescence and absorption after pulsed electron beam irradiation were studied in KNbO3 crystals at 80–400 K. A correlation between defects causing the luminescence and blue-light-induced IR absorption effects supressing the second harmonic generation efficiency in KNbO3 is discussed.
Charge trapping processes and energy transfer studied in lead molybdate by EPR and TSL
2019
Abstract Charge trapping and energy transfer processes are investigated in PbMoO4 single crystals by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and wavelength-resolved thermally stimulated luminescence (TSL) in a correlated manner. New signals produced by two differently perturbed Mo5+ centers (Mo2 and Mo3) were observed in EPR spectra measured in the crystals after 420 nm light irradiation. Two sets of spin-Hamiltonian parameters, g tensor and the 95,97Mo, 207Pb (super) hyperfine tensors, have been determined and analyzed in terms of crystal field and LCAO-MO theories. A significant overlap of the Mo 5d1 and 6s6p ligand Pb orbitals was deduced for the Mo3 whereas the Mo2 center seemed to be not…

Selective excitation of up-conversion luminescence by Yb3+–Er3+ energy transfer in glass and crystalline phase of oxyfluoride glass ceramics
2010
Up-conversion luminescence of oxyfluoride glass and glass ceramics containing LaF3 crystallites doped with Yb 3+ and Er 3+ was investigated at low temperature. Excitation of Yb 3+ in the IR region revealed the fast and the slow components of Er 3+ up-conversion luminescence originating from both glass and crystalline phases. The temporal differences of the both kinds of the luminescence allowed reconstructing the excitation spectra of the up-conversion luminescence related to the glass and crystalline phases in the glass ceramics. 2010 Elsevier B.V. Time-resolved cathodoluminescence spectroscopy of YAG and YAG:Ce3+ phosphors
2019
Abstract The phosphor powders, both undoped and Ce3+ doped with different concentration Y3Al5O12 (YAG), were synthesized by the solid-state reaction method with addition of BaF2 flux. SEM and XRD characterization of the samples were performed. The spectral and luminescence decay kinetic characteristics under the electron beam irradiation with nano- and picoseconds pulse duration and the electron energies of 250 keV and 55 keV were studied, respectively. Two bands in the cathodoluminescence spectrum of YAG:Ce3+ phosphors were observed with maxima at 2.19 ± 0.05 and 2.4 eV. The intensity ratio of these two bands depends on the electron energy and the duration of the excitation pulse. Instead,…
X-ray photoemission studies of the electronic structure of single-crystalline CdO(100)
2007
The electronic structure of single-crystalline CdO is investigated using X-ray photoemission spectroscopy. The surface is prepared by in situ Ar+ ion bombardment and annealing (IBA). The core level spectra before and after the IBA are presented, and reveal a dramatic reduction in the surface contamination. The semi-core Cd 4d level and valence band region following the IBA are also shown. The surface Fermi level is pinned 1.3 +/- 0.10 eV above the valence band maximum. (c) 2007 Elsevier Ltd. Refractory metal reactivity towards oxide surface : W/TiO2(1 1 0) case.
2006
International audience; Reactivity of deposited tungsten towards TiO2(1 1 0) surface was studied using synchrotron radiation photoemission spectroscopy (both core levels, valence band and resonant photoemission) on Materials Science Beamline at ELETTRA. W depositions carried out at room temperature on TiO2(1 1 0) surface give rise to an interfacial reaction which leads to a metastable situation due to kinetic limitations. Annealing induces chemical changes which are function of the initial coverage; for fractional coverage, annealing induces completion of oxidation of deposit whereas reduction to metallic tungsten occurs for highest coverage. These results demonstrate that interaction of W …

Luminescence mechanisms of defective ZnO nanoparticles.
2016
ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) synthesized by pulsed laser ablation (PLAL) of a zinc plate in deionized water were investigated by time-resolved photoluminescence (PL) and complementary techniques (TEM, AFM, μRaman). HRTEM images show that PLAL produces crystalline ZnO NPs in wurtzite structure with a slightly distorted lattice parameter a. Consistently, optical spectra show the typical absorption edge of wurtzite ZnO (Eg = 3.38 eV) and the related excitonic PL peaked at 3.32 eV with a subnanosecond lifetime. ZnO NPs display a further PL peaking at 2.2 eV related to defects, which shows a power law decay kinetics. Thermal annealing in O2 and in a He atmosphere produces a reduction of the A1(LO) Ra…
