Recombinant human LH supplementation versus recombinant human FSH (rFSH) step-up protocol during controlled ovarian stimulation in normogonadotrophic…

2005

Background: In ∼ 12-14% of young normogonadotrophic women treated with a depot GnRH agonist long protocol, the initial ovarian response to recombinant human FSH (rFSH) can be suboptimal. We have tested the hypothesis that these women may benefit from recombinant human LH (rLH) supplementation in a multicentre, prospective, randomized trial compared with patients treated with an rFSH step-up protocol. Methods: A total of 260 young normogonadotrophic women undergoing controlled ovarian stimulation with a GnRH agonist long protocol for IVF/ICSI were enrolled. The starting dose of rFSH was 225 IU. One hundred and thirty patients with serum estradiol levels 5 mm but none >10 mm on both day 5 and…

Dynamic Adaptation of LoRaWan Traffic for Real-time Emergency Operations

2022

Modern standards for IoT communications support fast deployment, large coverage in the order of kilometers, and physical layer adaptations to increase link robustness under time-varying propagation and interference conditions. A possible use of such IoT technologies is in case of emergency scenarios where first responders (FRs) arrive after a disastrous event. Indeed, an important challenge for emergency management is the need to (re)establish real-time communication capabilities and to offer integrated decision making facilities based on information gathered by FRs acting on the crisis site. In this paper, we present a system architecture based on LoRaWAN technology for connecting emergenc…

Re-treatment of Patients With Chronic Hepatitis C Who Do Not Respond to Peginterferon-[alpha]2b: A Randomized Trial

2009

BACKGROUND Many patients with chronic hepatitis C have not responded to therapy with pegylated interferon plus ribavirin. OBJECTIVE To evaluate use of peginterferon-alpha2a plus ribavirin to re-treat nonresponders to peginterferon-alpha2b plus ribavirin. DESIGN Randomized, parallel-group trial conducted between September 2003 and February 2007. Patients and researchers were not blinded to intervention assignment. Random assignment was centralized, computer-generated, and stratified by geographic region, hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype, and histologic diagnosis. SETTING 106 international centers. PATIENTS 950 nonresponders to 12 or more weeks of therapy with peginterferon-alpha2b plus ribav…

High Responders to Hypertrophic Strength Training Also Tend to Lose More Muscle Mass and Strength During Detraining Than Low Responders.

2021

Räntilä, A, Ahtiainen, JP, Avela, J, Restuccia, J, Kidgell, DJ, and Häkkinen, K. High responders to hypertrophic strength training also tend to lose more muscle mass and strength during detraining than low responders. J Strength Cond Res 35(6): 1500-1511, 2021-This study investigated differences in individual responses to muscle hypertrophy during strength training and detraining. Ten weeks of resistance training was followed by 6 weeks of detraining in men (n = 24). Bilateral leg press (LP) one-repetition maximum (1RM) and maximal electromyography (EMGs) of vastus lateralis (VL) and vastus medialis, maximal voluntary activation (VA), transcranial magnetic stimulation for corticospinal exci…

PS01.049: ENDOSTIM™ NON-RESPONDERS: AN ANALYSIS

2018

Abstract Background Electronic stimulation oft the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) is a new promising anti-reflux procedure that is established in Germany since 2014. Basically two leads are inserted laparoscopicaly into the LES and connected to an implantable pulse generator (IPG) which is placed in a subcutaneous pocket. This stimulation is supposed to build up the muscular anti-reflux barrier. It is limited to patients with a small hiatal hernia < 3 cm and reflux esophagitis LA Classification Type A-C. Although long-term results up to 4 years with a good postoperative reflux control and an increased quality of life have been published, no data about Endostim™ non-responders, difficul…

APOPTOSIS RATE IN CUMULUS CELLS AS POSSIBLE MOLECULAR BIOMARKER FOR OOCYTE COMPETENCE.

2017

Several lines of evidence showed that apoptosis rate of cumulus cells in oocytes derived by assisted reproductive technologies could be used as an indicator of fertilizing gamete quality. Aim of the study was to investigate the effects of three different ovarian stimulation protocols on the biological and clinical outcome in hyporesponder patients. Collected data showed a higher significant rate of DNA fragmentation index (DFI) in U group (patients treated with Highly Purified human Menopausal Gonadotrophin) than in P group (treated with recombinant human Follicle Stimulating Hormone (r-hFSH) combined with recombinant human Luteinizing Hormone (r-hLH)). Both groups R (treated with r-hFSH al…

A real-world economic analysis of biologic therapies for moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis in Italy: results of the CANOVA observational longitudin…

2021

AbstractBackgroundPsoriasis is a chronic immune-mediated inflammatory skin disease which can also involve joints. It is often associated with burdensome comorbidities which negatively impact prognosis and quality of life (QoL). Biologic agents have been shown to be effective in controlling disease progression, but their use is associated with higher costs compared with traditional systemic treatments. The economic analysis of the CANOVA (EffeCtiveness of biologic treAtmeNts for plaque psOriasis in Italy: an obserVAtional longitudinal study of real-life clinical practice) study aims to assess the costs and cost-effectiveness of biologics in a real-world context in Italy.MethodsThe annualised…

Self-explanation versus question-answering: Differences in processing and effectiveness for learning complex conceptual knowledge = Autoexplicar vers…

2020
