Electroweak Gauge-Boson and Higgs Production at Small qT: Infrared Safety from the Collinear Anomaly

We study the differential cross sections for electroweak gauge-boson and Higgs production at small and very small transverse-momentum $q_T$. Large logarithms are resummed using soft-collinear effective theory. The collinear anomaly generates a non-perturbative scale $q_*$, which protects the processes from receiving large long-distance hadronic contributions. A numerical comparison of our predictions with data on the transverse-momentum distribution in Z-boson production at the Tevatron and LHC is given.

Effects of menu structure and touch screen scrolling style on the variability of glance durations during in-vehicle visual search tasks.

The effects of alternative navigation device display features on drivers' visual sampling efficiency while searching forpoints of interest were studied in two driving simulation experiments with 40 participants. Given that the number of display items was sufficient, display features that facilitate resumption of visual search following interruptions were expected to lead to more consistent in-vehicle glance durations. As predicted, compared with a grid-style menu, searching information in a list-style menu while driving led to smaller variance in durations of in-vehicle glances, in particular with nine item displays. High-energy resummation effects in the production of Mueller-Navelet dijet at the LHC

We study the production of two forward jets with a large interval of rapidity at hadron colliders, which was proposed by Mueller and Navelet as a possible test of the high energy dynamics of QCD, within a complete next-to-leading logarithm framework. We show that using the Brodsky-Lepage-Mackenzie procedure to fix the renormalization scale leads to a very good description of the recent CMS data at the LHC for the azimuthal correlations of the jets. We show that the inclusion of next-to-leading order corrections to the jet vertex significantly reduces the importance of energy-momentum non-conservation which is inherent to the BFKL approach, for an asymmetric jet configuration. España ha pasado de una fase de intensa inmigración internacional durante el período de crecimiento económico a otra de re-emigración y retornos de extranjeros (y de emigración de nativos) durante la recesión. En nuestra investigación hemos observado una tendencia opuesta: durante la crisis se ha incrementado significativamente la llegada de inmigrantes procedentes de Italia a la ciudad de Valencia. Se trata de personas económicamente activas, con intención de permanencia, cualificadas y procedentes de regiones con indicadores socioeconómicos superiores a los de la Comunidad Valenciana. Por consiguiente, el análisis de su inserción laboral es clave para explicar las causas de la migración. …

QCD NLO with Powheg matching and top threshold matching in WHIZARD

We present the status of the automation of NLO processes within the event generator WHIZARD. The program provides an automated FKS subtraction and phase space integration over the FKS regions, while the (QCD) NLO matrix element is accessed via the Binoth Les Houches Interface from an externally linked one-loop program. Massless and massive test cases and validation are shown for several e+e- processes. Furthermore, we discuss work in progress and future plans. The second part covers the matching of the NRQCD prediction with NLL threshold resummation to the NLO continuum top pair production at lepton colliders.
