Holomorphically ultrabornological spaces and holomorphic inductive limits

1987

Abstract The holomorphically ultrabornological spaces are introduced. Their relation with other holomorphically significant classes of locally convex spaces is established and separating examples are given. Some apparently new properties of holomorphically barrelled spaces are included and holomorphically ultrabornological spaces are utilized in a problem posed by Nachbin.

Topological classification of gradient-like diffeomorphisms on 3-manifolds

2004

Abstract We give a complete invariant, called global scheme , of topological conjugacy classes of gradient-like diffeomorphisms, on compact 3-manifolds. Conversely, we can realize any abstract global scheme by such a diffeomorphism.

The Bishop–Phelps–Bollobás theorem for operators

2008

AbstractWe prove the Bishop–Phelps–Bollobás theorem for operators from an arbitrary Banach space X into a Banach space Y whenever the range space has property β of Lindenstrauss. We also characterize those Banach spaces Y for which the Bishop–Phelps–Bollobás theorem holds for operators from ℓ1 into Y. Several examples of classes of such spaces are provided. For instance, the Bishop–Phelps–Bollobás theorem holds when the range space is finite-dimensional, an L1(μ)-space for a σ-finite measure μ, a C(K)-space for a compact Hausdorff space K, or a uniformly convex Banach space.

Quasi-Normable Preduals of Spaces of Holomorphic Functions

1997

Abstract Let H ( U ) denote the space of all holomorphic functions on an open subset U of a separable Frechet space E . Let τ ω denote the compact-ported topology on H ( U ) introduced by Nachbin. Let G ( U ) denote the predual of H ( U ) constructed by Mazet. In our main result we show that E is quasi-normable if and only if G ( U ) is quasi-normable if and only if ( H ( U ), τ ω ) satisfies the strict Mackey convergence condition.

Haar Type and Carleson Constants

2009

For a collection ℰ of dyadic intervals, a Banach space X, and p∈(1, 2], we assume the upper l p estimates where x I ∈X, and h I denotes the L ∞ normalized Haar function supported on I. We determine the minimal requirement on the size of ℰ such that these estimates imply that X is of Haar type p. The characterization is given in terms of the Carleson constant of ℰ.

*-Representations, seminorms and structure properties of normed quasi*-algebras

2008

The class of -representations of a normed quasi -algebra (X;A0) is in- vestigated, mainly for its relationship with the structure of (X;A0). The starting point of this analysis is the construction of GNS-like -representations of a quasi -algebra (X;A0) dened by invariant positive sesquilinear forms. The family of bounded invariant positive sesquilinear forms denes some seminorms (in some cases, C -seminorms) that provide useful information on the structure of (X;A0) and on the continuity properties of its -representations. 1. Introduction. A quasi -algebra is a couple (X;A0), where X is a vector space with involution , A0 is a -algebra and a vector subspace of X, and X is an A0-bimodule who…

Fixed point theorems for -contractive type mappings

2012

Abstract In this paper, we introduce a new concept of α – ψ -contractive type mappings and establish fixed point theorems for such mappings in complete metric spaces. Starting from the Banach contraction principle, the presented theorems extend, generalize and improve many existing results in the literature. Moreover, some examples and applications to ordinary differential equations are given here to illustrate the usability of the obtained results.

Best proximity point theorems for rational proximal contractions

2013

Abstract We provide sufficient conditions which warrant the existence and uniqueness of the best proximity point for two new types of contractions in the setting of metric spaces. The presented results extend, generalize and improve some known results from best proximity point theory and fixed-point theory. We also give some examples to illustrate and validate our definitions and results. MSC:41A65, 46B20, 47H10.

Fixed point for cyclic weak (\psi, C)-contractions in 0-complete partial metric spaces

2013

In this paper, following (W.A. Kirk, P.S. Srinivasan, P. Veeramani, Fixed points for mappings satisfying cyclical contractive conditions, Fixed Point Theory, 4 (2003), 79-89), we give a fixed point result for cyclic weak (ψ,C)-contractions on partial metric space. A Maia type fixed point theorem for cyclic weak (ψ,C)-contractions is also given.

A class of finite groups having nilpotent injectors

1986

AbstractThe purpose of this paper is to construct a class of groups which properly contains the class of N-constrained groups, and which is such that all groups in this class have N-injectors.
