In vitro retentive strength of zirconium oxide ceramic crowns using different luting agents

2005

Statement of problem In contrast to gold crowns, in vitro determination of the retentive strength of all-ceramic crowns is more difficult because components allowing connection to testing apparatus are not as easily integrated into the all-ceramic material. Nevertheless, retentive strength data are crucial for obtaining information about the potential clinical performance of luting cements for all-ceramic restorations. Therefore, a new in vitro model was necessary to evaluate the retentive strength of all-ceramic crowns. Purpose The purpose of this in vitro study was to determine the retentive strength of 4 resin-cement systems, a compomer, a glass-ionomer cement, a resin-modified glass-ion…

STATE OF THE ART ON BOND BETWEEN FRCM SYSTEMS AND MASONRY/CONCRETE SUBSTRATE: DATABASE ANALYSIS AND IMPROVED MODELS

2023

The use of the Fabric Reinforced Cementitious Mortars (FRCMs) is nowadays a promising solution for the strengthening of both reinforced concrete and masonry structural elements. The application consists of a bond-dependent face-to-face plastering of an open grid or mesh by means of an inorganic-based matrix, i.e. a cement-based mortar. The main advantage of such a strengthening technique is the good compatibility with different types of substrates since the most suitable matrix can be selected focusing on the most similar breathability and stiffness. On the other side, the strengthening efficiency could be over-estimated if the potential bond failure is neglected. The FRCM-bond behaviour de…

Zinc removal in anaerobic sulphate-reducing liquid substrate process

2002

Abstract Zinc and sulphate removal from synthetic wastewater was investigated by using four laboratory parallel upflow-mode reactors (referred as R1 to R4; R1 contained carriers to retain biomass, whereas R2–R4 were operated as suspended reactors). All reactors were inoculated with anaerobically digested cow manure. R1 and R2 were first fed with glucose- and sulphate-containing feed for 48 days after which all four reactors were fed with wastewater containing 50 mg l−1 of zinc in R1–R3 and 200 mg l−1 in R4 and operated for 96 days. In all reactors, hydraulic retention time, organic loading rate, and sulphate load were 5–6 d, 0.2–0.4 kg COD m−3 d−1 and 3.3–3.8 g SO4 l−1 d−1, respectively, wh…

Block-Deterministic Regular Languages

2001

We introduce the notions of blocked, block-marked and blockdeterministic regular expressions. We characterize block-deterministic regular expressions with deterministic Glushkov block automata. The results can be viewed as a generalization of the characterization of one-unambiguous regular expressions with deterministic Glushkov automata. In addition, when a language L has a block-deterministic expression E, we can construct a deterministic finite-state automaton for L that has size linear in the size of E.

Positive solutions for a discrete two point nonlinear boundary value problem with p-Laplacian

2017

Abstract In the framework of variational methods, we use a two non-zero critical points theorem to obtain the existence of two positive solutions to Dirichlet boundary value problems for difference equations involving the discrete p -Laplacian operator.

Fast algorithms for free-space diffraction patterns calculation

1999

Here we present a fast algorithm for Fresnel integral calculation. Some fast algorithms using the fast Fourier transform are analysed and their performance has been checked. These methods are of easy implementation, but are only valid for a specific range of distances. Fast algorithms based on the Fractional Fourier transform allow accurate evaluation of the Fresnel integral from object to Fraunhofer domain in a single step.

Mechanical Behavior of Steel Fiber-Reinforced Concrete Beams Bonded with External Carbon Fiber Sheets

2017

This study investigates the mechanical behavior of steel fiber-reinforced concrete (SFRC) beams internally reinforced with steel bars and externally bonded with carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) sheets fixed by adhesive and hybrid jointing techniques. In particular, attention is paid to the load resistance and failure modes of composite beams. The steel fibers were used to avoiding the rip-off failure of the concrete cover. The CFRP sheets were fixed to the concrete surface by epoxy adhesive as well as combined with various configurations of small-diameter steel pins for mechanical fastening to form a hybrid connection. Such hybrid jointing techniques were found to be particularly adva…

Shape optimization for monge-ampére equations via domain derivative

2011

In this note we prove that, if $\Omega$ is a smooth, strictly convex, open set in $R^n$ $(n \ge 2)$ with given measure, the $L^1$ norm of the convex solution to the Dirichlet problem $\det D^2 u=1$ in $\Omega$, $u=0$ on $\partial\Omega$, is minimum whenever $\Omega$ is an ellipsoid.

I diritti sociali tra garanzia costituzionale e compiti dell'autorità

2013
