Graded polynomial identities and codimensions: Computing the exponential growth
2010
Abstract Let G be a finite abelian group and A a G-graded algebra over a field of characteristic zero. This paper is devoted to a quantitative study of the graded polynomial identities satisfied by A. We study the asymptotic behavior of c n G ( A ) , n = 1 , 2 , … , the sequence of graded codimensions of A and we prove that if A satisfies an ordinary polynomial identity, lim n → ∞ c n G ( A ) n exists and is an integer. We give an explicit way of computing such integer by proving that it equals the dimension of a suitable finite dimension semisimple G × Z 2 -graded algebra related to A.
Graded algebras with polynomial growth of their codimensions
2015
Abstract Let A be an algebra over a field of characteristic 0 and assume A is graded by a finite group G . We study combinatorial and asymptotic properties of the G -graded polynomial identities of A provided A is of polynomial growth of the sequence of its graded codimensions. Roughly speaking this means that the ideal of graded identities is “very large”. We relate the polynomial growth of the codimensions to the module structure of the multilinear elements in the relatively free G -graded algebra in the variety generated by A . We describe the irreducible modules that can appear in the decomposition, we show that their multiplicities are eventually constant depending on the shape obtaine…

Formal Periods and the Period Conjecture
2017
Following Kontsevich (see Kontsevich in Operads and motives in deformation quantization. Lett. Math. Phys. 48(1):35–72, 1999), we now introduce another algebra \(\tilde{\mathbb {P}}(k)\) of formal periods from the same data we have used in order to define the actual period algebra of a field in Chap. 11. The main aim of this chapter is to give conceptual interpretation of this algebra of formal periods. We then use it to formulate and discuss the period conjecture.
SCHUR MULTIPLIERS AND SPHERICAL FUNCTIONS ON HOMOGENEOUS TREES
2010
Let X be a homogeneous tree of degree q + 1 (2 ≤ q ≤ ∞) and let ψ : X × X → ℂ be a function for which ψ(x, y) only depends on the distance between x, y ∈ X. Our main result gives a necessary and sufficient condition for such a function to be a Schur multiplier on X × X. Moreover, we find a closed expression for the Schur norm ||ψ||S of ψ. As applications, we obtaina closed expression for the completely bounded Fourier multiplier norm ||⋅||M0A(G) of the radial functions on the free (non-abelian) group 𝔽N on N generators (2 ≤ N ≤ ∞) and of the spherical functions on the q-adic group PGL2(ℚq) for every prime number q.
A homotopy fixed point theorem in 0-complete partial metric space
2015
We generalize a result of Feng and Liu, on multi-valued contractive mappings, for studying the relationship between fixed point sets and homotopy fixed point sets. The presented results are discussed in the generalized setting of 0-complete partial metric spaces. An example and a nonlinear alternative of Leray-Schauder type are given to support our theorems.
Fixed point and homotopy results for mixed multi-valued mappings in 0-complete partial metric spaces*
2015
We give sufficient conditions for the existence of common fixed points for a pair of mixed multi-valued mappings in the setting of 0-complete partial metric spaces. An example is given to demonstrate the usefulness of our results over the existing results in metric spaces. Finally, we prove a homotopy theorem via fixed point results.
Irreducible components of Hurwitz spaces parameterizing Galois coverings of curves of positive genus
2014
Let Y be a smooth, projective, irreducible complex curve. A G-covering p : C → Y is a Galois covering, where C is a smooth, projective, irreducible curve and an isomorphism G ∼ −→ Aut(C/Y ) is fixed. Two G-coverings are equivalent if there is a G-equivariant isomorphism between them. We are concerned with the Hurwitz spaces H n (Y ) and H G n (Y, y0). The first one parameterizes Gequivalence classes of G-coverings of Y branched in n points. The second one, given a point y0 ∈ Y , parameterizes G-equivalence classes of pairs [p : C → Y, z0], where p : C → Y is a G-covering unramified at y0 and z0 ∈ p (y0). When G = Sd one can equivalently consider coverings f : X → Y of degree d with full mon…
Generalized iterated function systems on the spacel∞(X)
2014
Abstract In the last decades there has been a current effort to extend the classical Hutchinson theory of iterated function systems composed by contractions on a metric space X into itself to more general spaces and infinitely many mappings. In this paper we consider the (countable) iterated function systems consisting of some generalized contractions on the product space X I into X , where I is an arbitrary set of natural numbers. Some approximations of the attractors of the respective iterated function systems are given.
L -valued bornologies on powersets
2016
In M. Abel and A. ostak (2011) [1], the concept of an L-fuzzy bornology was introduced. Actually, an L-fuzzy bornology on a set X is a certain ideal in the family LX of L-fuzzy subsets of a set X. Here we propose an alternative approach to fuzzification of the concept of bornology. We define an L-valued bornology on a set X as an L-fuzzy subset B of the powerset 2X satisfying L-valued analogues of the axioms of a bornology. Basic properties of L-valued bornological spaces are studied. Our special interest concerns L-valued bornologies induced by fuzzy metrics and relative compactness-type L-valued bornologies in ChangGoguen L-topological spaces.
