3D Data Acquisition and Numerical Analysis of a Footwear in Walking

The aim of the paper is to set a procedure to study the load history of a footwear during a step with non-linear FE analysis. The geometric model tested was reconstructed from a real shoe by means of Reverse Engineering process, starting from dense point clouds acquired by non-contact scanning system. For each phase of the walk, the pressure values are obtained by a pressure distribution platform when tester is walking along the platform. The Finite Element model is easily generated by Hypermesh software using the CAD model. Ansys software is used to perform non-linear analyses. AbstractThe aim of this work is the design of a new customised elbow orthosis completely realized by Additive Manufacturing and the development of generative algorithms for parametric modelling and creation of 3D patterns to be adapted to the CAD model. This work describes a method to perfect the design of a custom elbow orthosis. A reverse engineering approach has been used to digitalize the patient’s arm and the subsequent CAD modelling of the structure of the custom elbow orthosis has been performed. Network of Concepts and Ideas

We present the results of an experiment designed to investigate the way information is organized and stored in the human brain. In particular, we are using controlled stimuli to reverse engineer the networks of ideas and concepts in order to answer the following questions. (1) Are the networks of ideas and concepts in the human brain invoked by verbal and visual stimuli distinct from each other? The answer appears to be no for the network of ideas and inconclusive for the network of concepts. (2) What is the topology of these networks? Our experimental results show that both are small-world networks, with the network of ideas being random and the network of concepts scale-free.

Hypertext support for the information needs of software maintainers

Making changes safely to programs requires program comprehension and satisfaction of the information needs of software maintainers. In this paper we provide insights into improving hypertext-based software maintenance support by analyzing those information needs. There exists a series of four earlier, detailed-level empirical studies on the information needs of professional C program maintainers. A reverse engineering approach to measure the deformations of a sailing yacht

In this work, a multidisciplinary experience, aimed to study the permanent deformations of the hull of a regatta sailing yacht is described. In particular, a procedure to compare two different surfaces of the hull of a small sailing yacht, designed and manufactured at the University of Palermo, has been developed. Simple representation of complex 3D data sets is a fundamental problem in computer vision. From a quality control perspective, it is crucial to use efficient and simple techniques do define a reference model for further recognition or comparison tasks.
