All the species described in the present work are consistent with a Late Pleistocene-Holocene chronology. The presence of M. cabrerae (absent in the Middl…
Orobanche apuana (Orobanchaceae) a new species endemic to Italy
2015
Orobanche apuana , a new species belonging to Orobanche sect. Orobanche , is described and illustrated from the Apuan Alps, Central Italy. Its relationships with the other species of the group of O. caryophyllacea ( O . grex Galeatae ) and with other Orobanche that parasitize Santolina species are examined. The names Boulardia latisquama , Orobanche lutea and O. teucrii are here lectotypified.
New Light on Parasorex Depereti (Erinaceomorpha: Erinaceidae: Galericini) from the Late Messinian (MN 13) of the Monticino Quarry (Brisighella, Faenz…
2019
Abstract A large-sized species of Parasorex is common in the MN 13 mammal assemblages from the uppermost Messinian sandy-marly fissure fillings within the Gessoso Solfifera Formation at Brisighella (Northern Apennine). This erinaceid has been classified as Galerix sp. in the first papers on the Brisighella fauna. Later, it was described in detail in an unpublished Ph.D. dissertation by Fanfani (1999), who referred it to Galerix depereti. Van den Hoek Ostende (2001) included G. depereti in the genus Parasorex, Parasorex depereti has been described by Crochet (1986) on scarce material from a few Early Pliocene (MN 14–15) localities of southern France and Spain. Parasorex cf. depereti has been…
An Agents and Artifacts Approach to Distributed Data Mining
2013
This paper proposes a novel Distributed Data Mining (DDM) approach based on the Agents and Artifacts paradigm, as implemented in CArtAgO [9], where artifacts encapsulate data mining tools, inherited from Weka, that agents can use while engaged in collaborative, distributed learning processes. Target hypothesis are currently constrained to decision trees built with J48, but the approach is flexible enough to allow different kinds of learning models. The twofold contribution of this work includes: i) JaCA-DDM: an extensible tool implemented in the agent oriented programming language Jason [2] and CArtAgO [10,9] to experiment DDM agent-based approaches on different, well known training sets. A…
Identification of Metastasis Associated Antigen 1 (MTA1) by Serological Screening of Prostate Cancer cDNA Libraries
2008
Over the past 10 years the serological analysis of recombinant cDNA expression libraries (SEREX) has proved to be an effective method for the identification of tumour antigens. In the present study, two prostate cancer libraries were constructed and screened using autologous sera. Fifty five genes were isolated, including 46 known genes and 9 previously uncharacterised genes. Among the known genes, a metastasis-associated gene, MTA1, previously identified by differential cDNA hybridisation, was preferentially expressed in a panel of malignant tissues compared with normal tissues, as analysed by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). MTA1 transcripts were observed to be ov…
Tri- and tetranuclear heteropivalate complexes with core {Fe2Ni O} (x = 1, 2): Synthesis, structure, magnetic and thermal properties
2019
Abstract The reactions of complex [Fe2Ni(O)(Piv)6(Et2O)(H2O)2] (1) with 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) and 2,2′-bipyridine (bpy) gave the following new coordination compounds: the trinuclear complex [Fe2Ni(O)(Piv)6(phen)H2O]·(C2H5)2O (2), the tetranuclear ones [Fe2Ni2(OH)2(Piv)8(phen)2] (3) and [Fe2Ni2(OH)2(Piv)8(bpy)2] (4), depending on the crystallization conditions. According to single crystal X-ray diffraction data, all the compounds have molecular structures. The Mossbauer spectra of 1–3 correspond to high-spin Fe3+ ions in an octahedral environment consisting of oxygen atoms. The DC magnetic susceptibility studies and quantum-chemical analysis of intra- and intermolecular J pathways using…
Synthesis and characterization of new coordination compounds by the use of 2-pyridinemethanol and di- or tricarboxylic acids
2021
The development of synthetic approaches towards new coordination polymers has attracted significant interest due to their fascinating physical properties, as well as their use in a wide range of technological, environmental and biomedical applications. Herein, the initial combination of 2-pyridinemethanol (Hhmp) with 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic acid (H2bdc) or 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid (H3btc) has been proven a fruitful source of such new species providing access to five new coordination compounds, namely [M2(Hbtc)2(Hhmp)4]·DMF (M = CoII, 1·DMF;NiII, 2·DMF), [Ni(bdc)(Hhmp)2]n·4H2O (3·4H2O), [Zn2(bdc)(hmp)2]n·DMF (4·DMF) and [Fe3(bdc)3(Hhmp)2]n (5). 4·DMF and 5 are the first metal–organic …
Synthesis, crystal structure and magnetic properties of bis[μ-bis(3-(pyridin-2-yl)-1,2,4-triazole-N′,N1,N2)] bis[triaqua nickel(II)] tetranitrate
1998
Abstract A new dinuclear nickel(II) coordination compound of formula Ni2(Hpt)2(H2O)6(NO3)4 (Hpt=3-(pyridin-2-yl)-1,2,4-triazole) was synthesized. The structure was solved at 298 K by single-crystal X-ray analysis. Bisμ-bis(3-(pyridin-2-yl)-1,2,4-triazole-N′,N1,N2) bistriaqua nickel(II) tetranitrate (C14H24N12O18Ni2) crystallizes in the triclinic space group P-1, a=7.2266(1), b=9.9144(1), c=11.2647(1) A, α=66.854(1)°, β=74.000(1)°, γ=86.400(2)°, V=712.42(1) A3, Z=1 (dinuclear units), 2823 reflections (1 > 2σ(I)), R1=0.0442, wR2=0.1197. The Ni(II) ions are bridged by two neutral Hpt ligands coordinating via N1 and N2 in the equatorial plane, Ni(1)-Ni(1)′=4.098(1) A. The Hpt bridging mode is a…
A Self-Assembled 2D Molecule-Based Magnet: The Honeycomb Layered Material {Co3Cl4(H2O)2[Co(Hbbiz)3]2}
2003
Research in the area of molecule-based magnets is rapidly expanding, owing, in part, to numerous breakthroughs in the past decade.[1] The preparation of solid-state architectures of varying dimensionalities from specifically tailored paramagnetic building blocks has proven to be very successful, and also clearly multidisciplinary. Materials science and supramolecular chemistry efforts have joined forces with classical organic and inorganic chemistry in the design of solid-state materials whose magnetic properties rival, and sometimes even exceed, those of classic inorganic solids.[2] The moleculebased strategy allows for the preparation of unusual materials that cannot otherwise be obtained…
Superexchange pathways in oxovanadium(IV) phosphates
1992
Abstract Oxovanadium(IV) phosphates show a diversity of magnetic behaviours that cannot be deduced from their respective structural features only. In part, this is due to the involvement of phosphate bridges in the spin transfer between V(IV) centres, and 31P solid state nuclear magnetic resonance becomes a key tool in determining the exchange mechanisms. The magnetic properties of a wide set of vanadium(IV) containing derivatives can be explained by realizing that a good overlap of the magnetic orbits may be achieved through paths involving phosphorus d orbitals.
