Libre circulation des travailleurs dans l'Union Européenne et tutelle des droits individuels de retraite complémentaire: un chantier inachevé
2013
Freedom of movement of workers within the EU implies adequate regulation of risks incurred by workers on the occasion of the exercise of this freedom. Among these risks, there is the possibility for community workers to lose or at least find themselves unable to give their supplementary retirement pension individual rights an unitary and continuous character when they decide to settle in another member State. What are the legislative solutions already proposed by the Community legislature and even those expected by community workers to be protected from these dangers? Provide a draft answer to this question is the main concern of this work.
Time-variations of zeroth-order vegetation absorption and scattering at L-band
2021
Abstract Surface soil moisture and vegetation optical depth (VOD), as an indicator of vegetation wet biomass, from passive microwave remote sensing have been increasingly applied in global ecology and climate research. Both soil moisture and VOD are retrieved from satellite brightness temperature measurements assuming a zeroth order radiative transfer model, commonly known as the tau-omega model. In this model the emission of a vegetated surface is dependent on soil moisture, vegetation absorption and vegetation scattering. Vegetation scattering is normally represented by the single scattering albedo, ω, and is commonly assumed to be a time-invariant calibration parameter to achieve high ac…
Life Imprisonment Without Prospect of Release: Comparative Remarks from a Human-Rights Perspective
2019
Life imprisonment without prospect of release is a penalty experiencing remarkable success today, especially in Europe. However, certain human rights bodies have recently begun to assert that this penalty runs counter the so-called ‘right to hope’, derived by way of interpretation from the right not to be subject to inhuman or degrading treatment. The purpose of the present contribution is to shed light on the potential and the limits of such trend by analyzing the case-law of universal (such as the UN system) and regional (the European system, the Inter-American system; the African system) bodies.
Long-Term Effects of Postovulatory Aging of Mouse Oocytes on Offspring: A Two-Generational Study1
1999
Aims of this study were to analyze the long-term effects of postovulatory aging of mouse oocytes on 1) reproductive traits of parental (F(0)) and first (F(1))-generation females (pregnancy rate, gestation length, litter size, perinatal death, and sex ratio of offspring) and 2) developmental and behavioral variables of F(1) and second-generation (F(2)) offspring (birth weight and weight gain during preweaning development, postnatal day of attainment of immediate righting, spontaneous motor activity, and passive and active conditioned learning ability). Hybrid (C57BL/6JIco x CBA/JIco) females were artificially inseminated at 13 h (control group) or 22 h (oocyte-aged group) after GnRH injectio…
A Brightening Coronal Loop Observed byTRACE. I. Morphology and Evolution
2000
We analyze the transient brightening of a solar coronal loop observed, at high time cadence (30 s) and spatial resolution (05 pixel size), with the Transition Region and Coronal Explorer (TRACE) in the 171 A band on 1998 June 26. The loop, located in AR 8253, is ≈1010 cm long and inclined with respect to the vertical to the solar surface. Its geometry and shape do not change significantly during the brightening, which lasts for ~2 hr and is preceded by highly dynamic events in nearby and perhaps interacting loops. The loop footpoints brighten first; after ~10 minutes, moving brightness fronts rise initially from the northern footpoint, and after another ~7 minutes from the southern one, at …
2021
The autonomy of the will or power of self-regulation of relationships derived from marriage is a subject that is on the rise and that we can qualify as novel. More and more couples are opting to proceed making use of this power to self-regulate both personal and property effects derived from their union or its future breakdown. In the Spanish legal system there is no precise and complete regulation of the subject, without all these figures being equally legislated, although all are admitted without any doubt by jurisprudence. In recent years there has been an evolution of Family law, traditionally very reluctant to give space to self-regulation. Our Constitution marks a turning point by cha…
Dual Cherenkov Radiation-Induced Near-Infrared Luminescence Imaging and Photodynamic Therapy toward Tumor Resection
2020
International audience; Cherenkov radiation (CR), the blue light seen in nuclear reactors, is emitted by some radiopharmaceuticals. This study showed that (1) a portion of CR could be transferred in the region of the optical spectrum, where biological tissues are most transparent: as a result, upon radiance amplification in the near-infrared window, the detection of light could occur twice deeper in tissues than during classical Cherenkov luminescence imaging and (2) Cherenkov-photodynamic therapy (CR-PDT) on cells could be achieved under conditions mimicking unlimited depth using the CR-embarked light source, which is unlike standard PDT, where light penetration depth is limited in biologi…
Massive relic galaxies prefer dense environments
2016
We study the preferred environments of $z \sim 0$ massive relic galaxies ($M_\star \gtrsim 10^{10}~\mathrm{M_\odot}$ galaxies with little or no growth from star formation or mergers since $z \sim 2$). Significantly, we carry out our analysis on both a large cosmological simulation and an observed galaxy catalogue. Working on the Millennium I-WMAP7 simulation we show that the fraction of today massive objects which have grown less than 10 per cent in mass since $z \sim 2$ is ~0.04 per cent for the whole massive galaxy population with $M_\star > 10^{10}~\mathrm{M_\odot}$. This fraction rises to ~0.18 per cent in galaxy clusters, confirming that clusters help massive galaxies remain unalter…
Fully cosmological virtual massive galaxies at z=0: kinematical, morphological, and stellar population characterisation
2013
We present the results of a numerical adaptive mesh refinement hydrodynamical and N-body simulation in a $\Lambda CDM$ cosmology. We focus on the analysis of the main properties of massive galaxies ($M_* > 10^{11}\,M_{\odot}$) at $z=0$. For all the massive virtual galaxies we carry out a careful study of their one dimensional density, luminosity, velocity dispersion, and stellar population profiles. In order to best compare with observational data, the method to estimate the velocity dispersion is calibrated by using an approach similar to that performed in the observations, based on the stellar populations of the simulated galaxies. With these ingredients, we discuss the different properti…
