Turvallisuusriskit yleisurheilussa : tapaustutkimus Jyväskylän Harjun yleisurheilukentän ja Hipposhallin yleisurheilutoiminnasta
2009
Ainakin yleisurheilussa suurin osa näistä vammoista on ehkäistävissä. Tutkimuksen teoreettisessa osassa perehdyttiin riskin ja riskienhallinnan käsitteisiin sekä yhteiskuntatieteellisessä kirjallisuu…

Longitudinal and cross-sectional associations of adherence to 24-hour movement guidelines with cardiometabolic risk
2022
This study aimed to examine 1) adherence to 24-hour movement guidelines over a 2-year follow-up in children aged 6-8 years and 2) association of this adherence with cardiometabolic risk factors. Physical activity and sleep were assessed by a monitor combining heart rate and accelerometry measurements. Screen time was reported by the parents. Body fat percentage, waist circumference, blood glucose, serum insulin, plasma lipids and blood pressure were assessed, and a cardiometabolic risk score was calculated using z-scores. Children were classified as meeting the guidelines if they had on average ≥60min/day of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity during the valid days; ≤120min/day of screen…

Verifying the predicted risk of extinction based on ecological characteristics
2021
Red List status of species should reflect species extinction risk. Because data are limited and species response has a time lag, species may be threatened by extinction even if they are not Red‐Listed. The ability to predict species risk of extinction from ecological characteristics holds promises for proactively targeting conservation measures to species at high risk. In 2005, the risk of extinction from ecological characteristics was predicted for 81 species of Finnish butterflies. Now, after 15 years and two additional national Red List assessments, these predictions are verified. Species with a higher risk of extinction according to the original ecological extinction risk rank (EERR) ha…

A Review of GDPR Impacts on Information Security
2022
The aim of this literature review is to understand GDPR impacts on information security in organisations. The research question is: What outcomes previous research reveal about the GDPR impacts on information security development? Findings indicated that GDPR has had several impacts divided in six categories here: user profiling and data collection, business impacts, management and compliance, personal competences, skills and career, authorization, authentication and notification obligation and data storage. Findings also indicated that even though GDPR had upraised information security and data protection requirements, it has caused also challenges. Previous research raised important separ…

Associations of Children’s Close Reading Distance and Time Spent Indoors with Myopia, Based on Parental Questionnaire
2022
Purpose: To study the association of parents’ reports about their children’s near work and outdoor habits with myopia in their children. Methods: Data from a questionnaire study conducted in 1983 among Finnish schoolchildren were reanalyzed. Vision screening had been performed for all the schoolchildren (n = 4961) in the 1st, 5th, and 8th grades (7-, 11-, and 15-year-olds) in an area of Central Finland. The questionnaire, including information about myopia, was returned by 4305 (86.7%) participants. Items concerned parents’ estimates of their child’s habitual reading distance, time spent indoors as compared with age peers, daily near work, outdoors time, and parents&…
