Exploring wider well-being in the EU-15 countries: an empirical application of the Stiglitz Report

We draw on the recommendations of the Stiglitz Report to select a set of economic and social variables that can be used to make cross-country comparisons of wider well-being. Using data for the EU-15 countries for 1999 and 2005, we show how three-way analysis can be used to extract synthetic information from a large data set to determine the main latent explanatory factors. In our case, we identify one dominant factor that we term the development profile, which is positively associated with the level of education outputs, technological progress and female labour market participation and negatively associated with the level of pollution. Sociālās salīdzināšanas ietekme uz attieksmi pret palīdzēšanu

Pētījuma mērķis bija noskaidrot, kāda ir sociālās salīdzināšanas, kas veikta ar lejupejošiem standartiem, ietekme uz attieksmi pret palīdzēšanu. Pētījumā piedalījās 60 respondenti (30 kontroles grupa un 30 eksperimentālā grupa), vecumā no 18 līdz 57 gadiem. Dalībnieki tika atlasīti pēc pieejamības principa, tā rezultātā pētījumā piedalījās tikai sievietes. Grupas tika pielīdzinātas pēc altruistiskas uzvedības rādītājiem. The discovery of graffiti in the early years of the twentieth century by the folklorist Giuseppe Pitré left by prisoners of the tribunal of the Spanish Inquisition in Palermo has been followed by more extensive investigations in recent years. These images and words have added a concrete and particular dimension to Sicily’s position at the crossroads of the Mediterranean. As well as images of saints and naval battles are to be found inscriptions not only in Italian, Sicilian and Latin but also in English and Hebrew. Dynamic aphasia and the generation of language

Severely reduced propositional speech in the context of intact nominal language skills (i.e., repetition, naming, comprehension, and reading) is the hallmark of dynamic aphasia (Luria, 1970). Recent evidence suggests there may be different types of dynamic aphasia as some patients do not produce any response on verbal generation tasks, whilst others are able to perform normally on verbal genera- tion tasks.
