The essay aims to investigate som…

2011

This thesis studies the professional integration in Vietnam of French-speakers in terms of communication. The study context involves French recruiters and Vietnamese candidates in authentic recruitment situations. Introduction presents an overview of the problem: if, as declared by E.T. Hall, culture and communication are the same phenomenon viewed under two particular facets, is it possible for French recruiters and Vietnamese candidates to communicate in order to understand, get along with each other, and reach agreement ? How can communication be viewed in the situation of cultural differences? In fact, cultural codes facilitate communication only when they are shared. The paradox is tha…

Buddhism as “creator” of transnational social support ties? Experiencing spirituality in a Tibetan child care organization in exile and its meaning f…

2014

The influence of Buddhism on transnational social support ties has not been researched systematically from an empirical angle until recently. In this article I delve into the support structures of a Tibetan community-based child care organization and its donors from western countries, and emerge with an understanding of how religious belonging and spiritual experiences contribute to the formation of transnational social support ties. By introducing religion that transcends national borders, in this instance, Tibetan Buddhism, as a category for analyzing transnational social support ties, I broaden the understanding of how diaspora is formed, for I look not only at Tibetans in diaspora, but …

Campaniforme et sépultures, Au-delà du standard

2004

Where are the famous Bell Beaker individual burials in the south east of France ? What is the nature of the burials wherein we actually find Bell Beaker elements ? And what kind of Bell Beaker is it ? And also : where does the Bell Beakers stand in the evolution of the funeral architectures and rites between the end of the Middle Neolithic and the Early Bronze Age ? Answering these questions, thanks to the presence of more than a hundred funeral sites in the area, would change our vision of the Bell Beakers fenomenon itself. These questions are also the occasion to present the diversity and the traditions of the funeral practices by the third millenium BC.

The Imperative of Addressing the Contemporary Crisis of Economics with Spiritual Intelligence

2013

Abstract The current global economic crisis has also drawn an increasingly obvious crisis of the economic theories. Thereby are more and more voices that calls for quitting the rather mechanistic, mathematical, determinist or pure rational approaches in favor of either sociological, psychological, historical, cultural or merely ethical ones, or, most often, a combination of some or all of these. In this paper I argue that the most needed approaches are now the anthropological ones that start from the spiritual considerations about human intelligence.

Treasure Hunts in the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries

2012

The religious dimension of the treasure hunt declined as the nineteenth century progressed. The belief in ghosts lost ground or transformed into spiritualism and an interest in the more or less vulgarized forms of what would become known as ‘parapsychology’.1 Without the ghosts who needed to be redeemed, the religious overtones of treasure hunting disappeared. Even news about treasure in an ecclesiastical context was void of spiritual meaning.
