Quantum stereodynamics of the 18O+16O16O→16O18O+16O exchange reaction at low collision energy
2017
Abstract We present a quantum study of stereodynamics of the 18 O + 16 O 16 O ( v = 0 , j = 1 ) → 16 O 18 O ( v ′ = 0 , j ′ ) + 16 O exchange reaction at a collision energy E coll = 0.01 eV . Polarization moments of the reactants have been computed and stereodynamical portraits have been generated. The results show that the reactant preferred relative orientations are strongly dependent on the scattering angle and on the product rotational states.
Unveiling the Occurrence of Co(III) in NiCo Layered Electroactive Hydroxides: The Role of Distorted Environments
2020
Co- and Ni-based layered hydroxides constitute a unique class of two-dimensional inorganic materials with exceptional chemical diversity, physicochemical properties and outstanding performance as supercapacitors and overall water splitting catalysts. Recently, the occurrence of Co(III) in these phases has been proposed as a key factor that enhance their electrochemical performance. However, the origin of this centers and control over its contents remains as an open question. We employed the Epoxide Route to synthesize a whole set of α-NiCo layered hydroxides. The PXRD and XAS characterization alert about the occurrence of Co(III) as a consequence of the increment in the Ni content. DFT+U si…
Electrochemical Fluorocyclization of N-Allylcarboxamides to 2-Oxazolines by Hypervalent Iodine Mediator
2018
A resource saving protocol for the synthesis of 5-fluoromethyl-2-oxazolines by using electrochemistry has been realized. Thereby, a hypervalent iodine species I(III) is generated by anodic oxidation in the presence of Et3N·5HF and mediates the cyclization of N-allylcarboxamide to 5-fluoromethyl-2-oxazoline. This method allows application to various substrates furnishing the 2-oxazolines with yields up to 68%. The protocol is easy to conduct under constant current conditions offering a sustainable alternative over conventional reagent-based pathways.
Syntheses, Properties and Structures of [{(C 5 Me 5 ) 2 Nb} 2 NiTe 4 ] and [( t BuC 5 H 4 Nb) 2 Ni 5 Te 7 (Ph 2 PCH 2 PPh 2 ) 2 ]: The Quest for Tetr…
2007
The reaction of [Ni(COD) 2 ] with [Cp* 2 NbTe 2 H] (1; Cp * = η-C 5 Me 5 ) in the presence of Ph 2 PCH 2 PPh 2 (dppm) in boiling toluene gives black-violet [(Cp * 2 Nb) 2 NiTe 4 ] (3). If [Cp' 2 NbTe 2 H] (2; Cp' = tBuC 5 H 4 ) is used under similar conditions dark-brown [(Cp'Nb)2Ni5Te7(dppm)2] (4) is formed. The structures of 3 and 4 have been determined crystallographically. Complex 3 contains a severely distorted NiTe 4 tetrahedron to which two niobocene groups are coordinated. Density functional analysis of the electronic structure of the NiTe 4 building block shows that it is best described as an [Ni(η 2 -Te 2 ) 2 ] 2- fragment. The structure of 4 reveals the presence of two Ni 5 and T…

Electrochemical instability of highly fluorinated tetraphenyl borates and syntheses of their respective biphenyls
2018
Highly fluorinated tetraphenyl borate anions are of importance as weakly coordinating anions in metalorganic reactions. However, at high positive potentials their electrochemical stability in organic solvents is not sufficient. This was investigated by a comprehensive cyclic voltammetry study and can be used synthetically to generate highly fluorinated biphenyls.
Electrochemical, Spectroelectrochemical, and Structural Studies of Mono- and Diphosphorylated Zinc Porphyrins and Their Self-Assemblies
2019
International audience; Three series of porphyrins containing a Zn(II) central metal ion and zero, one or two phosphoryl groups at the meso-positions of the macrocycle were characterized as to their electrochemical, spectroscopic and structural properties in non-aqueous media. The investigated compounds are represented as 5,15-bis(4'-R-phenyl)porphyrinatozinc, 10-(diethoxyphosphoryl)-5,15-bis(4'-R-phenyl)porphyrinatozinc and 5,15-bis(diethoxyphosphoryl)-10,20-bis(4'-R-phenyl)porphyrinatozinc, where R = OMe, Me, H or CN. Linear-free energy relationships are observed between the measured redox potentials at room temperature and the electronic nature of the substituents at the 5 and 15 meso-ph…
Excited-State Kinetics of an Air-Stable Cyclometalated Iron(II) Complex.
2019
The complex class [Fe(N^N^C)(N^N^N)]+ with an Earth-abundant metal ion has been repeatedly suggested as a chromophore and potential photosensitizer on the basis of quantum chemical calculations. Synthesis and photophysical properties of the parent complex [Fe(pbpy)(tpy)]+ (Hpbpy=6-phenyl-2,2'-bipyridine and tpy=2,2':6',2''-terpyridine) of this new chromophore class are now reported. Ground-state characterization by X-ray diffraction, electrochemistry, spectroelectrochemistry, UV/Vis, and X-ray spectroscopy in combination with DFT calculations proves the high impact of the cyclometalating ligand on the electronic structure. The photophysical properties are significantly improved compared to …

New soluble and intensely near-IR-absorbing transition metal (Ti, Zr, V, Ni) complexes were synthesized using a redox non-innocent N,N’-bis(3,5-di-tertbutyl-2-hydroxy-phenyl) -1,2-phenylenediamine (H4L) as a ligand precursor. In all the complexes, ([Ti(Lox)2, [Zr(Lox)2], [V(Lsq1)(HLox)] and [Ni(HLox)2], two organic molecules coordinate to the metal center as tri- or tetradentate ligands. The solid-state structures of the complexes were determined using single crystal XRD, and the compounds were further characterized with Electrospray Ionisation Mass Spectrometry (ESI-MS). Thermoanalytical measurements indicated the thermal stabilities of the complexes. All compounds absorb strongly in the n…
An Entry to Mixed NHC-Fischer Carbene Complexes and Zwitterionic Group 6 Metal Alkenyls
2016
The addition of NHCs to α,β-unsaturated Cr(0) and W(0) (Fischer) carbene complexes is strongly dependent on the electrophilicity of the carbene carbon. Electrophilic alkoxy-carbene complexes quantitatively react with NHCs to yield stable zwitterionic (racemic) Cr(0) - and W(0) -alkenyls with total regio- and E-stereoselectivity. Less electrophilic aminocarbenes react with NHCs to promote the displacement of a CO ligand and yield "mixed" NHC/Fischer biscarbenes in a process that is unprecedented in group 6 metal-carbene chemistry. In fact, the compounds prepared, are some of the scarce examples of Fischer bisylidenes reported in the literature. The electrochemistry of the zwitterionic Cr(0) …
