For the reading of an extract of The Story of Gil Blas of Santillane, a picaresque narrative and a novel about social ascension from the beginning of XVIII th century, we will question some of the processes and effects of the foolish narration. We come across the model of the farce, the games of parody, the controversial genre of satire : on the one hand, they aim to make the readerlaugh or smile, but they also give rise to thinking, especially when, all things considered, the « moral judgement » is so to speakimpeded.

El presente trabajo se inserta dentro de un proyecto de investigación iniciado por el departamento de Historia Moderna de la Universidad de Valencia sobre comercio del puerto de Valencia. El presente trabajo analiza el tráfico mercante de dicho puerto en el tercer cuarto del XVII. Para ello se ha empleado la documentación disponible en la Serie de Peaje de Mar, ubicada en la sección de Maestre Racional del fondo de depósito del Archivo del Reino de Valencia, donde se custodian los registros de descarga de mercancías del puerto de Valencia durante la época foral, lo cual ha permitido trabajar 17 años completos para dicho periodo, contabilizándose 9.051 embarcaciones y 42.604 registros. Photoelectrochemical study of passive films on stainless steel in neutral solutions

Abstract Passive films formed on AISI 304 stainless steel in neutral solutions are studied using photoelectrochemical technique. Photocurrents were investigated as a function of the wavelength of the incident light, the electrode potential and the time. The results of the measurements together with capacity measurements indicate that the passive film on AISI 304 shows characteristics of a highly doped amorphous or highly disordered n-type semiconductor. The potential dependence of the optical gap values and of the photocurrent transients can be interpreted assuming that the passive film is an iron-chromium oxide solid solution.
Serotonin control of central dopaminergic function: focus on in vivo microdialysis studies

In this review, the functional interactions between serotonin (5-HT) and dopamine (DA) neuronal systems are discussed with the focus on microdialysis studies in the rodent brain (mainly rats). 5-HT by itself is involved both directly and indirectly via actions on complex neuronal circuitry, in the regulation of DA release through multiple 5-HT receptors, playing a critical role in the development of normal and abnormal behaviours. Recent evidence suggests that dysfunction of dopaminergic and serotoninergic neurotransmitter systems contributes to various disorders including depression, schizophrenia, Parkinson's disease and drug abuse. Thermalisation of single electron devices is of considerable current interest because of its fundamental and practical consequences. We present experimental evidence of the effect of electrode volume and its shape on thermal equilibration of small metallic islands for single electron tunnelling. Heat transport between the conduction electrons and the lattice in a metal is commonly accepted to obey the ∝Te5-T0/5 law at low electron and lattice temperatures,Te andT0, respectively. We define the singletons for the invariance group \( {\overline S _n} = {\overline {SO} _0}\left( {2,n - 1} \right) \)) of the AdS n space-time. We write down some of their important properties and characterizations. It is found that the tensor product of singletons of spin 0 or 1/2 decomposes into representations that are a kind of massless representations of S n . Other kinds of massless representations, related to singletons, are also studied and a comparison is made. Various Gupta-Bleuler triplets are constructed for singletons and for massless representations.
