In the last years many species of birds have exploited urban and suburban habitats, taking opportunistically advantage of human presence for their niche parameters. The Wren is one of them and shows a high variability in the choice of nesting sites in the gardens of the outskirts of Palermo (Sicily). For many years the authors studied the breeding habits of this small bird, and thanks to the video-tape recordings on the nests, they were able to gather new information on its feeding habits and parental care. Tests were conducted in 2011; was studied the chance to develop two production cycles in the same year. For both cycles were used plants set up in 2010. The two production cycles were conducted during "winter-spring" and the second during the "summer-autumn". For the second cycle were used two different types of plants. Production levels reached in the second cycle were satisfying in terms of quantity and quality for both types of plants. Cumulative production amount to 70 tons/ha.

Un'idea semplice e rivoluzionaria: riuscire a trasformare, in armonia con la tradizione, il “parco agricolo sud” di Milano. La proposta si sviluppa su più piani: restauro delle abitazioni e cascine del parco, lo fruttamento delle energie eco-compatibili (biomassa, energia solare e energia idraulica), e promozione del parco come meta turistica. Un lavoro simile è già in atto in diverse parti della regione Lombardia. L’area del parco del Ticino dopo due anni di lavoro è quasi tutta eco compatibile. Nella provincia di Cremona alcune aziende agricole hanno già iniziato a sviluppare e a monetizzare la biomassa.
