Flow-induced vegetation uprooting in a meandering bend : experimental investigation

Abstract Vegetation uprooting is a complex process which depends on many interrelated factors. In this paper, attention is focused on the flow-induced uprooting in river bends, where the flow characteristics vary as effected by the channel's curvature and its continuous changing in the downstream direction. Results are presented by an experimental work done in a high-amplitude meandering flume with mature herbaceous vegetation on the bed. Decyzją konferencji jałtańskiej w 1945 r. wytyczono nowe granice państwa polskiego po II wojnie światowej oraz ustalono konieczność wysiedlenia Niemców z ziem przekazanych Polsce. Doprowadziło to do masowych przesiedleń ludności z dawnych terenów wschodnich II Rzeczypospolitej na tzw. odzyskane ziemie zachodnie, dla której proces „wrastania” w nową przestrzeń był wyjątkowo traumatyczny. Cryopreservation by droplet vitrification was applied to hazelnut (Corylus avellana L.). axillary buds of the Italian cultivated variety Tonda Gentile Romana, which were collected from in vitro growing shoots, immersed in ice cooled PVS2 or PVS3 for 60 or 90 min, then transferred to a droplet of vitrification solution, placed on a strip of aluminium foil, and plunged into liquid nitrogen (LN). Additionally, the effect on the recovery of the mother plant after cryopreservation was evaluated, following a cold pre-treatment at 4 °C for 3 months. Comparing micro-cutting and mini-cutting technique for the clonal propagation of Metrosideros excelsa

public gardens for its foliage and attractive red flowers. M. excelsa plants are commercially propagated by soft and semi-ripe cuttings. Therefore, new and more reliable propagation techniques derived both from conventional and advanced propagation methods should be considered to support Metrosideros nursery development. The mini-cutting and micro-cutting techniques were compared for the clonal propagation of M. excelsa.
