A sum rule approach to total muon capture rates

1986

Abstract The total muon capture rate is expanded in terms of sum rules and the convergence of such an expansion is analyzed. It results that the energy-weighted and the inverse-energy-weighted sum rules provide an accurate estimate for the total rate in agreement with a complete RPA calculation through the response function. The static polarizability of the isovector dipole mode turns out to be the relevant quantity to determine the total muon capture rate, in light and medium nuclei.

Effects of biomass, age and functional traits on regrowth of arable weeds after cutting

2008

Conference: 24th German Conference on Weed Biology and Weed ControlLocation: Stuttgart Hohenheim, GERMANYDate: MAR 04-06, 2008; International audience; In sown field margin stripes or pluriannual forage crops, arable weeds are exposed to high competition and regular mowing or hay cutting, to which they may react very differently. A greenhouse experiment permitted to understand some key factors shaping the ability of common arable weeds and forage crops to grow after such cuttings. Even without competition, cutting shoots at 5cm height reduced biomass production of all 10 species studied, but 6 annual broadleaf weeds were much more affected than 2 perennial forage crops (Dactylis, Medicago) …

Improving IoT Communications Based on Smart Routing Algorithms

2018

International audience; Due to the recorded success by Internet of Things (IoT) technology, more and more domains use it as a communications and exchange network such as e-health, smart cities, vehicles, etc. IoT don’t stop integrating an important number of components and objects that are characterized by their complexity and heterogeneity. Such constraints make the existing routings protocols unsuitable for IoT communications. To accomplish all the expected tasks and satisfy the user services, it is important to guarantee a quality of communication that answers to the requirements of the various applications in terms of data and processing (availability, integrity, efficiency, etc.). The …

Joint Optimization of Sensor Selection and Routing for Distributed Estimation in Wireless Sensor Networks

2014

Stretch-induced Intussuceptive and Sprouting Angiogenesis in the Chick Chorioallantoic Membrane

2014

Vascular systems grow and remodel in response to not only metabolic needs, but also mechanical influences as well. Here, we investigated the influence of tissue-level mechanical forces on the patterning and structure of the chick chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) microcirculation. A dipole stretch field was applied to the CAM using custom computer-controlled servomotors. The topography of the stretch field was mapped using finite element models. After 3 days of stretch, Sholl analysis of the CAM demonstrated a 7-fold increase in conducting vessel intersections within the stretch field (p 0.05). In contrast, corrosion casting and SEM of the stretch field capillary meshwork demonstrated intense …

Application of a Knowledge Discovery Process to Study Instances of Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problems

2020

Vehicle Routing Problems (VRP) are computationally challenging, constrained optimization problems, which have central role in logistics management. Usually different solvers are being developed and applied for different kind of problems. However, if descriptive and general features could be extracted to describe such problems and their solution attempts, then one could apply data mining and machine learning methods in order to discover general knowledge on such problems. The aim then would be to improve understanding of the most important characteristics of VRPs from both efficient solution and utilization points of view. The purpose of this article is to address these challenges by proposi…

The effect of nickel on seed germination and plant sprouting in the case of some Alyssum species

2015

The aim of the researches was to establish the upper limit of nickel concentration in soils that the Alyssum maritimum and Alyssum murale species could tolerate without significantly affecting the germination and the plant sprouting process. The experiment was conducted in 4 variants of 3 repetitions, each repetition including 50 seeds. The watering process of the substrate was performed using distilled water for the control variant (M) and NiSO4 solutions that represented the intervention threshold (V1 – 150 mg/kg) and doses that exceeded the intervention threshold (V2 – 350 mg/kg; V3 – 550 mg/kg and V4 – 750 mg/kg). The Ni influence on seed germination was assessed based on sprouting perc…

Convergence Analysis of Distributed Set-Valued Information Systems

2016

This paper focuses on the convergence of information in distributed systems of agents communicating over a network. The information on which the convergence is sought is not rep- resented by real numbers, as often in the literature, rather by sets. The dynamics of the evolution of information across the net- work is accordingly described by set-valued iterative maps. While the study of convergence of set-valued iterative maps is highly complex in general, this paper focuses on Boolean maps, which are comprised of arbitrary combinations of unions, intersections, and complements of sets. For these important class of systems, we provide tools to study both global and local convergence. A distr…

Joint routing and per-flow fairness in wireless multihop networks

2008

In wireless multihop networks communication between two end-nodes is carried out by hopping over multiple short wireless links. Traditional CSMA/CA based media access control does not work satisfactory in a multihop scenario, since an intended target of a communication may be subject to mutual interference imposed by concurrent transmissions from nodes which cannot directly sense each other, causing unfair throughput allocation. Although TDMA seems to be a more promising solution, careful transmission scheduling is needed in order to achieve error-free communication and fairness. In our previous work, a TDMA scheduling algorithm has been proposed that schedules the transmissions in a fair m…
