Des traces archéologiques témoins de l’implantation d’un vignoble sur le finage de Cernay-lès-Reims et Saint-Léonard au Moyen Âge

Thanks to the numerous archaeological operations carried out in Cernay-lès-Reims and Saint-Léonard - on the south-eastern edge of the Reims urban area - several sites from protohistory to the contemporary period were discovered. Among them, the presence of a multitude of small trapezoidal pits could be observed, and that over a large part of the area that was the subject of the interventions. With their atypical shapes, these pits are the proof of a wine-growing activity at the edge of Cernay-lès-Reims around the 11th-13th centuries.

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of calendar and skeletal age, anthropometric dimensions, training history and their interactions on vertical jumping height and horizontal overhead throwing velocity in a cross-section of 318 young male athletes (age range 9-16 years) participating in cross-country skiing (n = 70), basketball (n = 40), apparatus gymnastics (n = 19), ice hockey (n = 50), track and field (n = 89) and wrestling (n = 50). Summary Contents of selected phenolic compounds in needles of Norway spruce trees (Picea abies) from the Black Forest were measured using a HPLC-technique elaborated for serial studies in forest decline research. Measurements on needles that were harvested on several dates during two growing seasons gave no hint of seasonal variations in the concentrations of the studied phenolic compounds. Values for picein demonstrate an average decrease in the needles of severely damaged trees compared with the still undamaged ones, but the results are impaired by strong individual variations among the single trees. p-Hydroxyacetophenone was found in only very low amounts showing no constant differences …

An asymmetry in the prevalence of left-handedness vs. right-handedness in society has supposedly resulted in negative frequency-dependent advantages for left-handers in interactive sports. The aim of this study was to test whether these advantages apply to handball by examining whether being left-handed is beneficial when executing 7 m shots, a highly unimanual movement. All 1,625 7 m shots at the men’s 2016–2022 European championships were analyzed using a Bayesian two-level analysis.
