From the total volume of grain cultivated, roughly 85% is used for the manufacturing of flour, while the remaining part is discarded or utilized rather inefficiently. Consumption of the Whole-Grain Rye Bread and Progression of Prostate Cancer

Abstract Whole-grain rye intake has been suggested to have anti-cancer effect, including changes in serum hormones and reduced prostate specific antigen (PSA) in animals and humans. In this study, we investigated the effect of high intake of whole-grain rye bread on prostate cancer progression as assessed by PSA concentration in men diagnosed with prostate cancer. Fifteen men with prostate cancer who did not receive prior therapy were randomised and given a daily supplement of 250 g refined wheat bread for two weeks and, afterwards, 250 g whole-grain rye bread for six weeks. The Effect of Intense Air Drying on Material Distribution and Quality in Coated Papers

Abstract The aim of this study was to find out what will happen to paper coating quality and material gradients if coating is dried in one air dryer at a high convection rate (150 kg/m2h). Different printing papers were coated, calendered and printed with pilot machines. The binder and pigment gradients of the coated, and also printed, samples were analyzed with LIPS (Laser Induced Plasma Spectrometry). It was found that drying affects the migration of starch, but not latex. A regular variational boundary model for free vibrations of magneto-electro-elastic structures

In this paper a regular variational boundary element formulation for dynamic analysis of two-dimensional magneto-electro-elastic domains is presented. The method is based on a hybrid variational principle expressed in terms of generalized magneto-electro-elastic variables. The domain variables are approximated by using a superposition of weighted regular fundamental solutions of the static magneto-electro-elastic problem, whereas the boundary variables are expressed in terms of nodal values. In the tropics, rising sea surface temperatures are restructuring coral reef communities with sensitive species being lost. At the biogeographical divide between temperate and tropical communities, warming is causing macroalgal forest loss and the spread of tropical corals, fishes and other species, termed “tropicalization”.
